PIQUA — The Piqua boys soccer team scored a quick goal on Bethel Monday night at Wertz Stadium, but the Bees quickly recovered in a 9-1 win in non-conference action.
“I thought we played well considering we just are not used to playing on grass,” Bethel coach Bob Hamlin said. “Coming off Saturday when we played at home on wet turf, this was tough at first. Slowly we warmed up to it and controlled the match. We generated some nice goals tonight, finding the gaps and getting in behind them.
“Piqua has a young team. It is tough going against a veteran team like us, but they worked hard throughout the match.”
Phil Dix had three goals and two assists for Bethel, David Kasimov had two goals and one assist and Kason Etmans had two goals.
Reynaldo Rincon had one goal and two assists, Nick Falkenstein had one goal and one assist and Logan Newell and John Gulaliev had one assist each.
