TROY — The Troy boys soccer team got past Bethel 5-2 at Ernst Soccer Stadium Saturday night.

Troy improved to 9-2-1 and Bethel dropped to 8-2.

“I thought the first 12-15 minutes of the match, we played pretty well,” Bethel coach Bob Hamlin said. “We moved the ball, made some great runs into space and had some good opportunities to score. Unfortunately, then in the first half we do not clear a ball out of the back, they pounce on it and fire a shot in.

“Then, we do not mark well on a free kick and they head it in to take a 2-0 lead at half. Second half, we came out , kind of like we did in the first half and created some great chances.”

Bethel would tie the game 2-2 before Troy scored the final three goals of the night.

“After that, the wheels kind of fell off,” Hamlin said. “Troy is a good team. Good teams capitalize on other teams mistakes and that is what happened tonight.”
