Habitat for Humanity welcomes new board member

TROY — Scott Barr, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties, has announced that the organization’s board of trustees voted at their Aug. 20 meeting to approve the appointment of Reverend Eileen Hix to the Habitat for Humanity Board.

Hix serves as an associate pastor at The Sidney First Methodist Church. She has served as an advocate for children through the CASA program and on the boards of both Compassionate Care Clinic in Shelby County and Samaritan Works faith filled sober living program. She has also been involved with Tar Hollow Camp, Camp Union and WMVR.

“I feel blessed to be part of this vital organization and to have the opportunity to come together as a community and make a difference in someone’s life,” Hix said.

Hix joins a talented team of dedicated board members that include Jason Haak, Superintendent and CEO of the UVCC; Paula Hill of Homes by Hill Fathom Realty, Gustavo Menezes of Copeland; Chris Ellington of FGKS Law, Nick Barley of Kentner Sellers LLP; Seth Middleton who is self-employed; Mickey Hamer who is retired from Sidney Cargill; Mike Lochard of Lochard Inc.; Chad Hollinger of the City of Sidney Fire Department; Sharon Brulport of Miami County Job & Family Services; Jackie Davis of NRL Mortgage, and Joanie Henderson of Clopay Corporation.

“Reverend Hix comes to Habitat for Humanity with many years of experience working in and for her community in many capacities. Her dedication to her faith and a life of service make her an ideal addition to our board. I am excited to have her join our growing team,” Barr said.
