TROY — The Troy boys golf team capped a big week by beating the heat again on Friday afternoon at Miami Shores.

The Trojans topped Stebbins 152-179 to improve to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the MVL.

Troy will play in the Christoff Memorial Tournament Saturday at Reid Park.

“This was our third match in four days,” Troy coach Mark Evilsizor said. “The guys did a great job of being focused, which I was a little worried about. We had some big numbers on the last couple holes or our score would have been even lower. We could have been in the 140s easily.”

Mitchell Sargent — who was five-under par for his 27 holes last week — and Van Davis shared medalist honors with even-par 36.

“It was great for Van (Davis) to get his first medalist honor, being co-medalist with Mitchell (Sargent),” Evilsizor said. “Mitchell continues to play at a high level.”

Isaac Burns, Jeffrey Smith and Matthew Hempker all carded 40s and Casey Beckner added a 43.
