TROY – The Miami County Commissioners heard the quarterly report from County Treasurer Jim Stubbs during their meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 3.

Stubbs said the current county account balances remain steady.

“Everything’s pretty standard from first quarter to second quarter,” he said.

Stubbs did mention an uptick in credit card delinquencies nationwide coupled with a slight increase in unemployment.

“Often in the past, declining full-time employment has been a precursor to economic slowdown or recession,” he said. “Signs are still pointing to it and the investment gurus are still trying to say that it may happen, but housing prices are still up in nationwide.”

During the meeting the commissioners authorized the signing of opioid grant agreements, amending a resolution from Sept. 28, 2023. This resolution disburses the 2023/2024 Opioid Grant Funds in the Miami County Drug Court and Mental Health Court for $15,000 each from Sept. 1 to Dec. 31, 2024. The Common Pleas Court and Probation Department provided a written request for the extension.

In other business, the commissioners authorized or accepted the following resolutions:

• To sign memorandums of agreement for the deposit of public funds as requested by the Miami County Treasurer with Park National Bank, each as a public depository of active Miami County monies from Sept. 3, 2024, through Aug. 23, 2027.

• To accept the 2024 Miami County tax rates and amounts as determined by the Miami County Budget Commission.

• To set a hearing date for zoning map Amendment Applications set for Thursday, Sept. 19, for Jared and Holly Cress of Union Township.

• To certify the sewer rates or changes with penalties to the auditor of Miami County for placement on the property tax list and a duplicates for the collection in the same manner of taxes in the Sanitary Engineering Department.

The commissioners also opened statements of qualification (SOQs) for the Miami County Job and Family Services Building Expansion and Renovation Project.

The commissioners announced the Mental Health and Community Resource fair is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5 on the Miami County Courthouse Plaza from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
