MC Commissioners OK engineering purchases

TROY — The Miami County Commissioners authorized multiple agenda items, for the County Engineer’s Office, including two tractors at their Tuesday, Sept. 10 meeting.

The commissioners accepted a quote from Truland Equipment LLC, which authorized a distributor for Deere & Company to purchase two 2024 John Deere 6110M Cab Tractors for $236,089.08.

The agreement includes the following trade-ins of obsolete equipment: a 2010 John Deere Tractor, a 74” Versa Flail Mower; a John Deere Rotary Cut Mower; a 2019 John Deere Tractor; a Diamond Flail Side Mower; and the Diamond Flail Rear Mower. The total trade-in value is $79,800, making the total cost after trade-in of $156,289.08.

The commissioners also authorized and signed a change order to the Agreement with John R. Jurgensen Company for the 2024 Asphalt Concrete Resurfacing Program. Said order reflects an increase of $12,288.41, which reflects a change in quantities and materials for said program. The total contract now is $1,725,281.41.

County Engineer Paul Huelskamp told the commissioners the change order is necessary due to a change in quantities of materials and reflects less than 1% of the total contract.

Additionally, the commissioners also authorized a third release of $225,036.75 from the Financial Guaranty submitted by 3-GEN-D LLC, for the construction of Emerson Crossing Subdivision, The construction work to date has been reviewed and approved by the Engineer and appropriate County Departments. This release is a partial reduction of the referenced Escrow Agreement.

In other business, the commissioners authorized or approved the following resolutions:

• For the IT Department on behalf of the commissioners, to submit the 2024 Cyber Security Grant Application administered through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP). The amount of funding requested is $20,000, which includes a 20% local match for reimbursement of funds for the multi-factor and two-factor authentication and firewall replacements.

• A Title IV-E Child Placement Contract with Better Beginnings for a Brighter Future of Dayton, for the period of Nov. 1, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2025, for $500,000.

• The following employment requisitions in the Department of Job and Family Services: two full-time services caseworkers at a pay range from $21.56 to $29.17 depending on qualifications (DOQ) due to the departures of Cierra Kaufhold and Kris Anderson; one full-time child support case manager at a pay range from $17.82 to $24.11 DOQ due to the departure of Ruby Villalobos; one full-time eligibility referral specialist at a pay range from $19.60 to $26.52 DOQ due to the departure of Maria Parker.

• The auditor’s August summary revenue reports and summary expenditure reports.

• Credit card expenditures for the commissioners’ office for the directors’ lunch events.

At the end of the meeting, the commissioners opened bids for the Studebaker Road Waterline Extension Project as requested by the sanitary engineering department. The award for the proposed bids was deferred for a future meeting.
