SPRINGFIELD — The Troy boys golf team closed in on a perfect regular season in MVL play Thursday.

Playing at Locust Hills, the Trojans won 154-199 over Fairborn.

Troy is 9-0 overall and 8-0 in the MVL heading into Monay’s match with Piqua at Troy Country Club. They will return to Locust Hills Thursday for the MVL tournament.

Van Davis took medalist honors for Troy with a 35 and Mitchell Sargent had a 36.

“That is Van’s first solo medalist honors in a MVL match,” Troy coach Mark Evilsizor said. “It is great to see him playing his best golf at this time of year. Mitchell (Sargent) just continues to play at a high level. He was actually disappointed with tonight’s round.”

Other Troy scores were Jeffrey Smith 41, Isaac Burns 42, Casey Beckner 44 and Walter Mergler 44.

TROY — The Troy Christian boys golf team got a TRC win Thursday.

JB Walters was match medalist with 40 for Troy Christian.

Other Eagle scorers were Gabe Barhorst 45, Connor George 45 and Connor Tipton 46.

Milton-Union scorers included Hunter Fraley 43, Keaton Jones 45, Austin Hodkin 47 and William Coate 49.

PIQUA — The Covington boys golf team got a win at Echo Hills Golf Course Thursday.

Matt Dieperink was match medalist with 37 to lead Covington and Brodie Manson added a 38.

Other Covington scores were Brairen Denson 45, Jayden Wackler 48, Caden Hollingsworth 54 and Caleb Smith 60.

Miami East scores were Keidin Pruitt 41, Chase Posey 42, Adam Lawson 44, Aiden Crumrine 44, Owen Haak 48 and Brody Antonides 48.

Bradyn Dillow had two goals and one assist and Carson Furrow had one goal and two assists.

Joshua Murphy had a goal and Matthew Barth had one assist.

TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe boys soccer team got a win at Tipp City Park Thursday.

Landon Haas had two goals and one assists and AJ Jergens and Dominic Mendiara scored one goal each.

Carson Smith had one assist and Jace Sawyer had four saves in goal.

PIQUA — The Piqua boys soccer team got a win on the Wertz Stadium pitch Thursday.

Ty Pettus had one goal and one assist and Chase Pettus and Gage Walling scored one goal each.

Braxton Penrod and Brady Weiss had one assist each.

Tanner Stevens had six saves in goal.

BRANDT — The Bethel boys soccer team got a TRC win Thursday.

“A physical battle tonight,” Bethel coach Bob Hamlin said. “I think in the first half we played some good soccer, but kept getting the ball in crowded spots making it hard to finish. Lehman’s keeper came up with some good saves, keeping it 1-0 at halftime.

“We made a couple adjustments at halftime and immediately it paid off. This then helped to open it up some and at times, we played beautiful soccer. With our success this year, we are that marked game on everybody’s schedule. The opponents make you be at your best and sometimes that is hard. But, our guys worked through it tonight and came out with a good win.”

Phil Dix had two goals and David Kasimov had one goal and one assist.

Reynaldo Morin Rincon had one goal, Logan Newell had two assists and Nick Falkenstein added one assist.

Colin Potts had 13 saves in goal for Lehman.

WEST MILTON — The Milton-Union boys soccer team got a win at home Thursday.

For Miami East, Kaden Bodey and Jackson Shaw had eight saves each.

Tipp’s Ella Berning was medalist with 41.

In singles, Nina Short defeated Corona Schiely 6-2, 6-2; Calista Hicks lost to Maddie Backer 7-6 (5), 6-2 and Kimber Connors defeated Ari Mullins 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, Izzy Lutz and Maile Romberger defeated Alayna Lomax and Lola Lomax 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (11) and Savannah Gibson and Allison Straughn defeated Brynlee Ball and Lilia Malcolm 6-3, 6-1.

SIDNEY — The Lehman Catholic girls tennis team got a win Thursday.

“Good team win for us,” Lehman coach Tim Ungericht said. “Ashreal (Alvarez) played really well against a player who was runnerup at the Coaches Cup last year.”

In singles, Charlotte Spaide won 7-6, 6-1; Alvarez lost 7-6, 6-4 and Lehman forfeited third singles.

In doubles, Eliza Westerheide and Kyla McGinnis won 6-3, 6-2 and Kari Pleasant and Dublin Cooper won 6-1, 6-0.

PIQUA — The Troy volleyball team picked up its third win of the season at Garbry Gymnasium Thursday in MVL action.

VANDALIA — The Tippecanoe volleyball team won a battle of MVL unbeatens 25-22, 25-14, 25-22 Thursday night at SAC.

“It was a great environment for Vandalia-Butler,” Tippecanoe coach Howard Garcia said. “Place was packed and it was an exciting match. We jumped out to a very good start and led 16-9, but our hitting errors brought them back to 22-21. We closed the door with a kill and a block.

“Second set, we took control of the match with our great defense and ball control. Third set was a back-and-forth battle, getting sloppy at times. But, our front line took charge with three straight kills, The team played with passion and grit and in different occasions in the match, a different player took the lead.”

Savannah Clawson had 10 kills and 16 digs, Courtney Post had eight kills, Lexi Luginbuhl had seven kills and Abby Mader and Morgan Sessions had six kills each.

Jenna Krimm and Bri Morris dished out 18 assists each and Faith Siefring led the defense with 20 digs.

Emily Aselage added 15 digs.

DEGRAFF — The Covington volleyball team cruised to a 25-18, 251-14, 25-14 win on the road Thursday night.

Covington, unbeaten in the TRC, hosts Miami East in a big match Tuesday night.

CASSTOWN — The Miami East volleyball team stayed one game back of Covington in the TRC with a 15-25, 25-19, 25-16, 17-25, 15-11 win Thursday night.

Whitni Enis had 11 kills, four aces and 15 digs and Jaycee Roeth had 10 kills and three aces.

Avery Yeaple had 12 kills, Kylie Gentis had 19 assists and four aces and Jersey Cutlip had 17 assists and 14 digs.

Kamryn Apple had 21 digs and Emma Rust added 11 digs.

SIDNEY — The Lehman Catholic volleyball team held off Troy Christian 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20 Thursday in TRC action.

For Troy Christian, Myla Toney had 11 kills and Maddie Fourman had 10 kills and 17 digs.

Taylor Bechtol had 38 assists, Chloe Simmons had four aces and 12 digs and Olivia Simmons led the defense with 26 digs.

LEWISBURG — The Bradford volleyball team got a road win in WOAC action Thursday 25-20, 10-25, 25-21, 27-29, 15-8

Ryleigh Dotson had six kills and 10 digs, Hayven Evans and Addyson Mills each had five kills and 13 digs.

Megan Wood added five kills, Choe Hocker dished out 20 assists, Kaylin Richard had 13 digs and Lilly Canan added 12 digs.

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton volleyball team dropped a WOAC match Thursday 19-25, 25-18, 25-16, 28-26.

Sienna Montgomery had 13 kills, Estie Rapp had nine kills and 14 digs and Ava Rapp added eight kills and 16 digs.

Aubrey Stetzel had 21 assists and three aces, Makenna Kesling had nine assists and 12 digs and Hannah Williams had four aces and 13 digs.
