Butler boys, Tipp girls win MVL golf titles

SPRINGFIELD — Things didn’t pan out the way the Troy boys golf team had hoped at the MVL tournament Thursday at Locust Hills.

In the end, the Vandalia-Butler boys and Tippecanoe girls came away as both tournament champions and overall MVL champions.

BOYS

Butler finished third in the regular season behind Troy and Tippecanoe.

But, the Aviators won the tournament Friday to finish with 17 points overall.

Tipp who finished second both in the standings and in the tournament, finished with 16 points.

Troy, who was 9-0 in the regular season, finished fourth to finish with 15 points overall.

Tippecanoe shot 311.

Red Devil scores included Eli Voisard 76, Max Gustavson 77, Sam Dilworth 79, Andrew Gagnon 79, Carson Jackson 81 and Grant Pavlett 89.

Troy finished with a 319 score.

Trojan scores were Mitchell Sargent 78, Isaac Burns 79, Van Davis 81, Casey Beckner 81, Jeffrey Smith 95 and Matthew Hempker 94.

Piqua finished seventh in the tournament with 340.

Indian scores Hunter Steinke 83, Lance Lawson 83, Blake Walling 87, Evan Clark 87, Gabe Sloan 97 and Aiden Applegate 104.

GIRLS

Tippecanoe girls finished second in the regular season standings and needed to win the tournament Friday to secure the overall MVL championship.

And the Red Devils did exactly that.

Tipp shot 349 to win the tournament.

Ella Berning was medalist on the day with 75 and Olivia Kreusch was second with 79.

The other Red Devil scores were Ava Hanrahan 96, Kylee Schreiner 99, Bristol Kovaleski 102 and Adelyn Deppen 120.

Troy finished third in the tournament with a 373 total.

Trojan scores were Ava Smith 89, Maleyla Bitemo 92, Morgan Maxwell 94, Myah Bitemo 98, Kacy King 109 and Emma Warnecke 121.

Piqua finished fifth in the tournament with a 382.

Indian scores included Aubree Carroll 91, Jenna Snyder 93, Izzy Thoma 98, Kaylie Hittle 100, Emery Kuhlman 105 and Haylie Schultz 111.
