TROY — The Troy D-I and D-II tennis sectional semifinals and finals were played Saturday.
D-I
Troy’s Nina Short and the doubles team of Izzy Lutz and Maile Romberber both finished third.
Short, the second seed, lost her semifinal match to third seed Lily Braswell of Northmont 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, before defeating top seed Hannah Faulkner of Vandalia-Butler 6-1, 6-1.
Lutz and Romberger , the third seed, lost to second seed Madison Becker and Corena Schiely of Fairborn 6-3, 6-3.
They rebounded with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Daisy Carpenter and Ashley Weiss from Northmont x in the third third-place match.
D-II
Tippecanoe’s Eleanor Spangler and the Red Devils doubles teams of Mary Waibel and Amelia Wiggleshaus and Eve McCormick and Sydney LaBreck competed Saturday.
Spangler and Waibel and Wiggleshaus finished third and McCormick and LaBreck finished fourth.
Spangler lost to second seed Sadie Pilson of Northwestern 6-3, 6-4 and defeated Francesca Gongora of Chaminade-Julienne 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the third-place match.
Waibel and Wiggelshaus, the second seed lost to third seed Celeste Acuna and Evy Powers of Chaminade-Julienne 7-5, 6-2 and McCormick and LaBreck, the the fourth seed, lost to top seeded Paige Harsman and Olivia Parisi of Chaminade-Julienne 6-0, 6-0.
In the third-place match, Waibel and Wiggelshaus defeated McCormick and LaBreck 6-2, 6-4.
They all advance to the district tournament Wednesday and Thursday at Mason High School.
