Commissioners OKs MCSO vehicles purchase

TROY — The Miami County Commissioners authorized the purchase of two new vehicles for the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.

During their meeting on Thursday, Oct. 10, the commissioners authorized the purchases from Dave Arbogast Buick-GMC in Troy, the first purchase includes a $3,000 trade-in from a used 2007 vehicle, bringing the total cost to $32,765. The second vehicle cost is $27,162.

“A couple of our covert cars are being replaced and it’s being funded out of our law enforcement federal trust fund,” said Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak.

The commissioners also authorized the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the Metropolitan Planning Area among the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority, Greene Cats, and the Ohio Department of Transportation’s participation in the Metropolitan Transportation planning process.

Michael Clarey, chief administrative officer, said they are obligated to pass this resolution under federal law.

In other business, the commissioners approved or authorized the following resolutions:

• To adopt revisions to the general plan for public water and waterworks improvements and the public provision of water to the area known as West Charleston area properties of Bethel Township water supply improvement area of the Miami County sanitary and water district number one.

• Due to the necessity to construct, operate, and maintain Water Supply extensions for the West Charleston area properties for Bethel Township, and fixing location and tentative assessments, and the time when endorsements or objections to the improvements will be heard. said improvement is necessary for the preservation and promotion of public health and welfare.

• To reappoint Adrian Barnes to serve on the board of trustees for the Troy-Miami County Public Library.

• To authorize the county engineer to auction the following items on the GovDeals website: one 2013 International 7400 dump truck; one snowplow; one salt spreader; one 2013 6×12 trailer; one 2001 Peterbilt tandem dump truck; miscellaneous tables and chairs; a skid of miscellaneous tires; miscellaneous cabinets; an old gas hut; and a miscellaneous skid.

The commissioners also opened bids for the Kessler-Fredrick Road bridge replacement project as requested by the county engineer. The award for the bids was deferred for a future meeting.
