Kimmel wins D-I district race; seven teams, multiple individuals advance to regionals

SPRINGFIELD — The district cross country races were held at Cedarville University Saturday with a number of local runners qualifying for regionals.

BOYS

D-I

Tippecanoe finished third and Piqua finished fifth, with both teams advancing on to the regional meet Saturday at Troy.

Landon Kimmel led Tipp, winning in 14:52.3.

The rest of Tipp’s runners included Everett Muhlenkamp, 12, 16:10.7; Luke Schwieterman, 26, 16:33.8; Ethan Berning, 27, 16:35.8; Dimitri Hartman, 38, 16:58.6; Will Hept, 39, 17:00.8 and Eli Ramos, 44, 17:06.8.

Noah Burgh led Piqua with a fifth-place finish in 15:45.5.

The rest of Piqua’s runners included Brycen Angle, 11, 16:06.2; Braden Holtvogt, 34, 16:56.7; AJ Burroughs, 58, 17:23.6; Ty Pettus, 60, 17:29.3; Evan Clark, 64, 17:39.9 and Harvin Bornhorst, 98, 18:24.9.

D-II

Milton-Union finished sixth and Bethel finished eighth to advance as teams.

Milton-Union runner included Colin Hinkelman, 7, 16:33.3; Zak Klepinger, 36, 17:35.3; Andrew Oaks, 46, 18:04.5; Jacob Grube, 51, 18:08.9; Riley Kent, 70, 18:51.8; Tyler Shoemaker, 73, 18:56.0 and Chase Parsons, 82, 19:11.6.

Bethel runners included Kade Schweikhardt, 26, 17:16.5; Justin Brinson, 30, 17:23.2; Patrick Firstenberger, 39, 17:53.7; Michael Trussel, 74, 18:58.7; Cullen Firstenberger, 103, 19:47.5; Caleb Wrobel, 144, 21:31.6 and Lucas Klimkowski, 163, 23:51.5.

Qualifying as an individual for Miami East was Johnathan Hedrick, 23, 17:14.7.

D-III

Newton advanced as a team, finishing fifth.

Newton runners included Seth Coker, 13, 17:04.3; Tanner Long, 37, 17:46.4; Garrison Hughes, 40, 17:47.1; Dylan Bauer, 42, 17:56.2; Liam Woods, 48, 18:02.6; Nick Staub, 50, 18:04.1 and Colton Shellenberger, 102, 19:24.4.

Qualifying as individuals were Lehman Catholic’s Brian Baumann, 18, 17:14.7 and Covington’s Beck Wilson, 23, 17:22.1.

GIRLS

D-I

Troy’s Avyn Spagnola advanced as an individual, finishing 16th in 20:21.6.

D-II

Tippecanoe finished fourth to advance as a team

Red Devil runners included Morgan Collins, 11, 20:28.3; Lucia Ranly, 21, 21:02.5; Katelyn Beeson, 25, 21:06.9; Sydney LaBreck, 30, 21:19.9; Mary Waibel, 41, 21:45.1; Lauren Anderson, 50, 22:16.5 and Gracie Raeff, 69, 22:55.5.

Advancing as individuals were Bethel’s Olivia Brumbaugh, 17, 20:45.1; Milton-Union’s Aubree Bates, 20:46.9 and Bethel’s Alyssandra Periano, 22, 21:05.0.

D-III

Newton advanced as a team, finishing sixth.

Newton runners included Michaela Flora, 4, 19:30.8; Cole Thompson, 20, 20:47.2; Claire Stull, 25, 20:53.5; Emily Flora, 54, 22:27.0; Gentri Deaton, 59, 22:34.8; Evelyn Case, 84, 23:46.6 and Ellie Bauer, 118, 26:24.7.

Qualifying as individuals were Covington’s Elyza Long, 5, 19:37.8 and Troy Christian’s Elisabeth Waltz, 22, 20:48.3.
