TROY — The Board of Miami County Commissioners has announced Miami County Transit will offer free rides to transport county residents to and from their polling location on Election Day.
Rides will be available from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.
“Voting is a vital part of our democracy, and we want to make it as accessible as possible for everyone in our community. This initiative aims to eliminate transportation barriers and ensure that all residents have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming election,” the news release stated.
The rides are subject to availability and must be scheduled in advance, preferably no later than Saturday, Nov. 2. To take advantage of the free service call 937-335-7433.
“We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to make their voice heard at the ballot box,” said the commissioners in a statement in a press release. “By providing free rides we hope to remove any barriers that may prevent residents from exercising their right to vote.”
