Piqua to induct four into Athletic Hall of Fame

PIQUA — The Piqua boys basketball team will host Vandalia-Butler tonight at Garbry Gymnasium in its annual Hall of Fame game.

Kyle Bryant, Ken Magoteuax, Bill Nees and Pete Rolf will be inducted into the Piqua High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

There will also be an “Orange Out” to honor Grant Gillespie.

Stebbins 50

DAYTON — The Tippecanoe boys basketball team improved to 12-3 overall and 11-1 in the MVL with a win over Stebbins Wednesday.

Tipp trailed 17-16 after one quarter, but took a 33-21 halftime lead and led 50-33 after three quarters.

Gavin Garlitz had 15 points and three steals and Josh Dietz had eight points and five rebounds.

Griffin Caldwell scored eight points and Stanley Clyne had seven points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Luke Hoover had six points, six rebounds and two blocked shots and Cole Coppock had six points and five rebounds.

Troy game

is postponed

TROY — The Troy girls basketball game with Stebbins was postponed Wednesday, due to illness on the Stebbins team.

The game will now be played Tuesday.

Piqua 47,

Fairborn 33

PIQUA — The Piqua girls basketball team improved to 3-18 overall and 3-14 in the MVL with a home win Wednesday night.

Piqua led 6-4, 21-11 and 37-25 at the quarter breaks.

Piqua is scheduled to host Troy Saturday.

Kenzi Anderson led Piqua with 13 points, 13 rebounds and three steals.

Logan Spradlin added 10 points.

Reagan Toopes netted eight points, four assists and three steals and Chloe Stewart added six points.

Izzy King pulled down five rebounds.

Sidney 53,

Tipp 37

TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe girls basketball team played its fourth game in five days Wednesday as Sidney clinched a share of the overall MVL title.

Tipp dropped to 11-9 on the season and 10-7 in the MVL.

Sidney led 16-8, 30-15 and 36-24 at the quarter breaks.

Troy Christian 50,

Northridge 3

TROY — The Troy Christian girls basketball team shutout Northridge in the second half to get a TRC win.

Troy Christian improved to 10-9 overall and 8-5 in the TRC.

Sarah Johnson had 16 points and 13 rebounds and Brooklyn Lavy had 13 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Kathleen Johnson had eight points and seven rebounds and Jocey Hill added seven points and eight steals.

Hope Carroll had five steals and two blocked shots and Gracie Kincer added three steals.

Arcanum 66,

Newton 43

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton girls basketball team dropped to 7-13 overall and 3-8 in the WOAC with a home loss.

Newton trailed 21-10, 41-21 and 54-31 at the quarter breaks.

Camryn Gleason led Newton with 17 points and three steals.

Reese Hess had 13 points and Emma Szakal added six points.

Mercedes Craig dished out five assists.
