MIAMI COUNTY — Miami County is seeing a decrease in COVID-19 cases this month, but public health officials are still encouraging residents to be diligent as hospitalizations and COVID-related deaths continue to occur.
According to Miami County Public Health, there have been 479 new cases, 65 new hospitalizations, and 24 new deaths related to COVID-19 since the start of February.
“We are seeing a decrease in cases, which is encouraging. However, we are still seeing a decent number hospitalizations and deaths, so we still need to be diligent,” said Vicky Knisley-Henry, Ph.D., health educator with Miami County Public Health. “If you are sick, stay home. If you have been in close contact with a positive case, get tested and watch for symptoms. Continue to wear a mask when out in public spaces where social distancing isn’t possible.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control COVID tracker, Miami County currently has a case rate of 229 cases per 100,000 residents, along with a positivity rate of 16.45%. Approximately 49.9% of the population in Miami County has had at least one dose of a COVID vaccination and 46.9% of residents are considered fully vaccinated. Approximately 45.5% of those who are fully vaccinated also had a booster dose.
According to the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), Miami County has had 25,427 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, as well as 1,436 hospitalizations and 446 deaths related to COVID-19. There are also 23,581 people who are presumed to have recovered.

• Piqua City Schools, 285 cumulative and five new
• St. Patrick, four cumulative and zero new
• Tipp City Exempted Village, 271 cumulative and three new
• Troy Christian, preschool, three cumulative and zero new
• Troy Christian Elementary School, 20 cumulative and zero new
