Edison hoop teams win three games over weekend

PIQUA — The Edison State Community College women’s basketball team improved to 21-0 with a 118-53 win over Lorain County Saturday.

Kailah Johnson led Edison with 23 points.

Nia Johnson added 18 points and five rebounds, Maddy Bakosh had 13 points, five rebounds and five assists and Allison Siefring had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Victoria Newland had 12 points and seven rebounds, Rylie McIver had 10 points and three steals, Whitney Staggs had eight points and Audra Schrubb scored seven points.a

Kierra Wendle and Haleigh Behnken scored six points each and Trisa Porter grabbed five rebounds and had four assists.

MEN

The Edison State men won two games over the weekend to improve to 14-6.

On Saturday, Edison defeated Lorain County 87-70.

Ibrahima Athie had 26 points, two blocked shots and 12 rebounds and Jaylen Robinson scored 20 points.

Shaeden Oden had 14 points, two blocked shots and six rebounds and Jordan Howard had 13 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Sekou Maiga had seven points, six rebounds, five assists and six blocked shots.

On Sunday, Edison defeated Kent State at Tuscarawas 70-68, rallying from a 32-28 halftime deficit.

Howard had 20 points and six rebounds and Olden added nine points and five rebounds.

Montana Cotrell scored eight points and Athie had seven points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and three steals.

Lorenzo Lewis had six points and five rebounds and Roinson, Jakob Reed and Yero Diallo all scored six points.
