SIDNEY — Lehman Catholic seniors Nick Minneci and Heidi Toner made their college choices official Friday in Schlater Gymnasium in front of the student body at a pep rally.

Nick Minneci

Minneci, the son of Vito and Christine Minneci, will continue his soccer career for the University of St. Francis-Fort Wayne.

“When I visited there, I really liked the coaches,” Minneci said. “I liked everything about it. It just felt right to me.”

Minneci hopes to go in and make an impact right away as a center-midfielder.

He had five goals and five assists for Lehman this past season.

“Typically, that is where I play,” Minnecci said.

And he looks forward to the challenge of playing at the next level.

“There is always room for improvement,” Minneci said. “I look forward to it. I am excited about it.”

Minneci also likes the academic program at USF-Fort Wayne.

“They have a really strong business program,” he said. “That is what I am going in. I am going in marketing.”

Heidi Toner

Toner, the daughter of Tia Toner and Todd Toner, will take her talents as a goalie to Wilmington College.

“I have probably been playing goalie since I was five years old,” Toner said. “I have always liked it. I like the challenge.”

She finished off an outstanding high school career this past season, recording 45 saves and posting 10 shutouts as Lehman went 13-4-2 and advanced to the regional semifinals.

Toner said the choice of Wilmington was an easy one.

“I really like the coaches,” she said. “When I visited there, I got to talk to a couple players and we hit it off. It just felt right for me.”

She also look forward to the challenge at the next level.

“They have a really good senior, so it will be different than high school,” she said. “There was really only one goalie (at Lehman). I think it will be good and I look forward to it.”

After the two made their choices official in front of the student body.
