Edison State men host tournament game Tuesday

PIQUA — The Edison State Community College men’s basketball team will host a quarterfinal game in the NJCAA Region 12 tournament at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Chargers finished off the regular season by defeating Bryant & Stratton 81-71 Saturday, before losing to Lakeland 87-59 Sunday.

Edison finished 7-5 in the OCCAC and the Chargers are 18-8 overall.

Against Bryant & Stratton, Edison led 40-31 at halftime and held on for the win.

Jaylen Robinson celebrated Sophomore Day with 20 points, while Jakob Reed had 15 points and Jordan Howard had 14 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.

Shaeden Olden had 13 points and seven rebounds and Ibrahima Athie had nine points and 12 rebounds.

Edison was 28 of 62 from the floor for 45 percent, including 10 of 24 from long range for 42 percent. The Chargers converted 15 of 27 free throws for 56 percent.

Edison had 51 rebounds and 20 turnovers.
