The boys sectional golf tournaments are complete with five teams and two individuals advancing on to the district tournament.

D-I

The district tournament is set for Oct. 7 at Pipestone Golf Course, with the top three teams and top three individuals not on qualifying teams advancing to the state tournament.

Tippecanoe and Troy advanced to the district tournament as teams from the Springfield D-I sectional.

The Red Devils won the sectional tournament with a 298 total.

Max Gustavson led Tippecanoe with a one-under par 71.

Other Tipp scores were Carson Jackson 75, Eli Voidard 76, Sam Dilworth 76, Andrew Gagnon 78.

Troy got the fourth and final sport at the Springfield sectional with a 321 total.

“It really doesn’t matter where you finish as long as you get out,” Troy coach Mark Evilsizor said. “That is just a piece of paper saying we finished fourth. It means we will play with the other fourth place teams at district.

Mithcell Sargent carded a four-under par 68 to take medalist honors in the tournament, despite bogeying the par-4 ninth hole — his last hole of the day.

“This was a big bounce back round for Mitchell (Sargent) from the MVL tournament,” Evilsizor said. “He was really disappointed not to be medalist there. He had a great round today and we needed every bit of it to get to district.”

Sidney shot a 325 and had a better fifth score than Troy.

“We got done before Sidney,” Evilsizor said. “We were watching the live scoring and they kept getting closer and closer to us. We needed the round we got from Van Davis today. Our seniors struggled a little bit today, but we are moving on.”

Davis carded a 79, Casey Beckner and Jeffrey Smith both had 87 and Isaac Burns added a 95.

Piqua finished 11th with a 383.

Indian scores were Blake Walling 93, Evan Clark 94, Hunter Steinke 97, Lance Lawson 99 and Gabe Sloan 105.
