LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Tippecanoe junior Landon Kimmel ran under 15 minutes for the second straight year at the prestigious Valkyrie Invitational.

And this time, he almost won the varsity seeded race.

Alex Bruns of Cincinnati St. Xavier won in 14:39.86 and Kimmel was right behind him, taking second in 14:46.51.

The rest of Tippecanoe’s top seven included Everett Muhlenkamp, 45, 15:50.60; Dimitri Hartman, 93, 16:23.88; Ethan Berning, 105, 16:27.60; Luke Schwieterman, 117, 16:37.25; Eli Ramos, 161, 16:57.04 and Hayden White, 215, 17:20.74.

Miami County Invite

WEST MILTON — Milton-Union sophomore Colin Hinkelman doesn’t have to look far for a measuring stick in his success as a runner.

And Hinkelman added to his family’s legacy after winning the Miami County Invitational in 16:32.9, almost 30 seconds in front of Troy’s Elijah Buschur.

Hinkelman’s dad Kyle was a multiple winner of the same race when he ran for Troy.

“I am always trying to be better than my dad,” Hinkelman said. “I know if I can do that, I am going places. I wanted to win it last year and didn’t get it done, this year I did. I was really looking forward to this race this year.”

Troy put five runners in the top 10 to run away with the team title.

Buschur was second in 17:02.8; and Ryan McChesney was third in 17:14.2.

Rounding out the Trojans top seven were Noah Zink, 7, 17:33.0; Zadok Reeves, 8, 17:35.0; Chet Snyder, 9, 17:37.6; Dylan Arnold, 13, 17:52.5 and Gavin Romberger, 18, 18:66.9.

Milton-Union finished second.

Zak Klepinger was right behind Hinkelman, finishing fourth in 17:15.7.

The rest of the Bulldogs top seven included Andrew Oaks, 17, 18:14.3; Jacob Grube, 29, 18:45.8; Chase Parsons, 38, 19:14.7; Tyler Shoemaker, 48, 19:43.5 and Liam Hartley, 53, 19:58.5.

Newton finished fourth.

The Indians top seven included Seth Coker, 11, 17:43.8; Tanner Long, 16, 18:09.3; Garrison Hughes, 19, 18:18.2; Liam Woods, 23, 18:30.0; Nick Staub, 27, 18:44.5; Dylan Bauer, 45, 19:30.6 and Colton Shellenberger, 51, 19:50.9.

Miami East finished fifth.

The Vikings top seven included Gunner Weldy, 5, 17:20.3; Johnathan Hedrick, 10, 17:42.5; Landon Moran, 36, 19:11.8; Corbin Farrier, 36, 19:11.8; Reese Gipe, 42, 19:28.3; Coleton Moore, 57, 20:10.9 and Tai McAdams, 73, 20:53.9.

Bethel finished sixth.

The Bees runners included Justin Brinson, 12, 17:44.5; Patrick Firstenberger, 14, 17:55.5; Michael Trussel, 25, 18:31.9; Caleb Ratliff, 50, 19:50.5; Cullen Firstenberger, 67, 20:26.9 and Luke Klinkowski, 95, 23:17.1.

Troy Christian finished seventh.

Eagles runners included Landon Patel, 37, 19:13.9; Steven Edmonds, 39, 19:16.1;Jacob Pierce, 41, 19:20.8; Rhett Baldwin, 64, 20:23.4 and Henry Rupnik, 75, 21:04.6.

Covington finished eighth.

The Buccs top seven included Preston King, 24, 18:31.4; Zaiden Maroney, 52, 19:51.6; Henry Skaggs, 58, 20:11.5; Kent Welborn, 65, 20:23.8; Chris Deaton, 68, 20:33.7; Landon Reynolds, 69, 20:41.2 and Drake Angle, 76, 21:05.0.

Sidney Invitational

SIDNEY — Piqua used a 1-2 finish to win the Sidney Invitational Saturday, while Lehman Catholic took second.

Noah Burgh won the race in 15:56.9 for Piqua and teammate Brycen Angle was second in 16:41.3.

Rounding out the Indians top seven were Braden Holtvogt, 4, 17:22.2; Evan Clark, 6, 17:47.4; Ty Pettus, 8, 17:52.1; Harvin Bornhorst, 12, 18:57.5 and Brennen Angle, 15, 19:24.3.

Lehman’s top seven included Brian Baumann, 7, 17:45.6; Alex Goubeaux, 10, 18:32.7; Luke Dexter, 11, 18:51.7; Thadeus Bezy, 13, 18:53.6; Ethan Taylor, 17, 19:34.5; Leopold Schmiesing, 20, 19:57.2 and Landon Swan, 43, 23:30.5.

Tour de Sewer

VERSAILLES — The Bradford boys cross country team finished 13th at the Tour de Sewer Saturday.

Railroader runners included Brenden Hansen, 101, 22:04.7; Eli Hoffman, 104, 22:17.0; Lucas Nicholson, 129, 23:48.4; Kyree Roberts, 132, 24:04.8; Stephen Stewart, 133, 24:09.1 and Zeb Lavey, 135, 24:18.1.
