TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe football team got the season off to an impressive start with a 28-7 win over Bellbrook Friday at Tipp City Park.

Tipp will host Fairborn Friday.

Tipp started the scoring with Dylan Herndon catching a 15-yard pass from Larkin Thomas and Owen Baileys kicking the PAT.

The Red Devils made it 14-0 at half after Herndon returned a fumble 10 yards for a score and Baileys kicked the PAT.

Jackson Davis caught a 35-yard pass from Thomas for a third-quarter touchdown and Baileys kicked the PAT.

After Bellbrook closed to within 21-7, Thomas ran two yards for a score and Baileys kick made the final 28-7.

Thomas completed 15 of 26 passes for 201 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Logan Butera had 50 yards rushing on 16 carries and Thomas had 48 yards on seven carries.

Xavier Melton had nine carries for 46 yards.

Will Strong had five catches for 72 yards, Davis had five catches for 63 yards and Herndon had three catches for 37 yards.

Collin Isaac had 12 tackles to lead the defense, while Max Howard and Chris Preece had six tackles each.

Lima Senior 35,

Piqua 20

LIMA — The Piqua football team dropped its season opener on the road Friday night.

The Indians will stay on the road, traveling to Vandalia-Friday night.

Jericho Burns had 17-yard run in the opening quarter for a score and ran for the PAT to tie the game 8-8.

Piqua closed within 16-14 in the second quarter on a seven-yard TD run by Burns and Burns closed the Piqua scoring with an eight-yard TD run.

Burns rushed for 138 yards on 30 carries.

Quarterback Caiden Thomas completed 11 of 21 passes for 67 yards and rushed for 67 yards on 12 carries.

Debo Knisley caught three passes for 32 yards.

RayShawn Garrett led the defense with eight tackles and Zadyn Allen and Izzy Coleman had six tackles each.

Miami East 33,

Greenon 0

CASSTOWN — The Miami East football team got off to a fast start Friday night.

The Vikings will host Carlisle Friday night.

KJ Gustin completed 20 of 28 passes for 316 yards for the Vikings.

Jake Hamaker caught five passes for 182 yards, including an 82-yard touchdown.

Lincoln Littlejohn caught eight passes for 92 yards and Kaden Francis caught five passes for 30 yards and two touchdowns.

Aaron Mills led rushing attack with 15 carries for 71 yards.

Covington 54,

Arcanum 27

COVINGTON — The Covington football team honored the memory of the late Johnny Boehringer by getting its first win since October of 2022.

The Buccs will play at Dayton Christian Friday night.

DayLynn Garrett started the scoring on a 21-yard pass from Landin Cassel.

Tanner Palsgrove ran 12 yards for a score with Cassel running for a two-point PAT.

Jack Blumenstock had a 21-yard interception return for a score, with Filip McMaken kicking the PAT.

Garrett had a 30-yard punt return for a score and then caught an 83-yard TD pass from Cassel with McMaken kicking the PAT.

Garrett added a 27-yard TD pass from Cassel, with Wyatt Parker kicking the PAT.

Trenton Havenar caught a 10-yard TD pass from Cassel and Cassel ran three yards for a score with McMaken kicking the PAT.

Cassel completed 14 of 23 passes for 250 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

Garrett had four catches for 131 yards, Havenar had three catches for 51 yards and Parker Hoying had four catches for 42 yards.

Jordan Miller led the rushing attack with 14 carries for 84 yards.

He led the defense with 13 tackles and Garrett leistner had 12 tackles.

Havenar added eight tackles.

Bethel 41,

National Trail 14

BRANDT — The Bethel football team opened the season with an impressive win.

The Bees will host Kenton Ridge Friday night.

Bethel opened a 27-14 halftime lead and added two scores in the second half.

Cooper Mears completed 12 of 14 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns.

He also rushed for a touchdown.

Lucas Truman caught five passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns and Landon Cornwell had two catches for 35 yards and one touchdown.

Cornwell had 95 yards rushing and one touchdown on 7 carries.

Remi Brannon had 54 yards rushing and a touchdown on seven carries.

Christian Bennett led the rushing attack with 82 yards on 14 carries and Logan Newell kicked five PATs.

Brannan led the defense with 17 tackles, including 12 solo tackles.

Versailles 33,

Milton-Union 0

VERSAILLES — The Milton-Union football team struggled against a strong Versailles team Friday night.

The Bulldogs will travel to Valley View Friday night.

Wyatt Kimmel completed 14 of 21 passes for 125 yards.

Charlie Lane had four catches for 34 yards and Will Johns had three catches for 31 yards.

Evan Michael led the running game with seven carries for 31 yards.

Lane had seven tackles and a sack and Braxton Donley had seven tackles.

Troy Christian 0

TROY — The Troy Christian football team ran into a buzzsaw Friday night.

The Eagles will play at Catholic Central Friday night.

DELPHOS — The Lehman Catholic football team ran into a strong Delphos St. John’s team Friday night.

Lehman will travel to Southeastern Friday night.

BRADFORD — The Bradford football team got off to a tough start Friday night.

The Railroaders will play at Ansonia in WOAC action Friday night.

Owen Canan completed 10 of 20 passes for 158 yards, including a 62-yard TD pass to Griffin Trevino.

Trevino had two catches for 67 yards and Rallie Wirrig had three catches for 37 yards.

Canan had 24 yards rushing on 11 carries and Trevino had 18 yards rushing on five carries.

Canan had nine tackles and Trevino recovered a fumble.
