PIQUA — Covington senior Elyza Long was all smiles as she crossed the finish line at the Piqua Invite Under The Lights Saturday night at Alexander Stadium/Purk Field.

And with good reason.

Long ran away with the race, winning in 18:22.7.

Troy led the local teams with a sixth-place finish.

The Trojans top seven included Lily Zimmerman, 7, 19:36.0; Isabel Westerheide, 28, 20:36.5; Ruby Zimmerman, 35, 20:52.6; Avyn Spagnola, 50, 21:24.9; Kennedy Harlamert, 62, 21:42.8; McKenna Lynch, 74, 21:55.7 and Peyton Scott, 90, 22:23.3.

Newton finished eighth.

The Indians top seven included Michaela Flora, 26, 20:29.8; Claire Stull, 38, 20:57.0; Cole Thompson, 40, 21:04.6; Gentri Deaton, 81, 22:09.0; Emily Flora, 92, 22:28.0; Ellie Bradshaw, 102, 22:49.2 and Evelyn Case, 198, 26:07.7.

Milton-Union finished 11th.

The Bulldogs top seven included Aubree Bates, 24, 20:26.1; Sydnie Bartlett, 61, 21:41.2; Madalyn Korte, 85, 22:10.4; Alaina Manning, 128, 23:25.9; Amelia Iddings, 130, 23:32.0; Jessa Lightner, 145, 24:19.1 and Lola Taylor, 232, 27:47.0.

Miami East finished 12th.

The Vikings top seven included Tessa Kress, 56, 21:33.2; Teaghan Kress, 64, 21:43.6; Addy Fine, 80, 22:07.3; Grace Shively, 101, 22:44.0; Savannah Pleiman, 137, 24:01.6; Isabella Bobillo, 150, 24:33.6 and Keara Stace, 164, 24:59.3.

Bethel finished 13th.

The Bees top seven included Olivia Brumbaugh, 13, 19:52.6; Alyssandra Periano, 21:04.7; Natalie Sonnantime, 43, 21:11.1; Taylor Kauff, 234, 27:52.4; Emma Berberich, 254, 29:21.7; Keira Mallet, 256, 29:43.3 and Shiritha Kutcherlapati, 270, 35:09.8.

Covington finished 16th.

Piqua finished 17th.

The Indians top seven included Ashlyn Gearhardt, 73, 21:54.8;Lucy Weiss, 94, 22:29.7; Kendall Soto, 126, 23:24.8; Alyssa York, 131, 23:37.8; Libby Jane Magoteaux, 135, 23:51.8; Addyson Ford, 144, 24:17.7 and Bailey Quinter, 179, 25:22.3.

Lehman Catholic finished 18th.

The Cavaliers top seven included Margaret Schmiesing, 66, 21:46.6; Anna Minneci, 75, 21:56.5; Julia Gudorf, 120, 23:20.8; Rose Marie Schmiesing, 147, 24:22.2; Ava Reineke, 153, 24:35.9; Zippy Bezy, 154, 24:38.5 and Noelle Reineke, 158, 24:46.1.

Troy Christian finished 18th.

The Eagles top seven included Elisabeth Waltz, 11, 19:50.6; Joy Myers, 110, 22:58.9; Lila Echemann, 121, 23:22.0; Annaliese Erdahl, 169, 25:11.2; Maddy Shope, 190, 25:49.6; Norah Rocke, 221, 27:06.4 and Anna Lee, 247, 25:80.5.

MASON — The Tippecanoe girls varsity cross country team finished third in the varsity, section 2 race at the Mason Invitational.

Tipp’s top seven included Morgan Collins, 6, 20:42.3; Katelyn Beeson, 15, 21:34.2; Sydney LaBreck, 16, 21:35.4; Kali Greth, 34, 22:48.0; Lauren Anderson, 42, 22:55.0; Gracie Raiff, 55, 23:39.8 and Belle Stanford, 23:47.8.

Blackhawk Invite

GREENVILLE — The Bradford girls cross country team ran at the Blackhawk Invitational Saturday.

Railroader runners included Emma Lavey, 6, 23:28.9; Natalie Wood, 8, 23:46.2; Savannah Beachler, 10, 24:20.5 and Daphne Lavey, 35, 30:14.8.
