Construction crews from J-Crane in Covington place one of the massive beams that will support the bridge that is being built over the Great Miami River at Farrington Road in Piqua, on Wednesday, June 5. The outer span support beams for the bridge are each 90-feet 9-inches in length, while the center span beam are 113-feet 6-inches. The beams weigh 116,00 pounds each and 144,000 pounds each respectively. All of the beams are 6-feet tall and 49-inches wide at the top. The total span on the bridge is 298-feet 9.5-inches. Brumbaugh Construction is the general contractor for the project while J-Crane crews weigh in heavily with the lifting and moving of the cast concrete beams. The bridge is expected to be completed in early November.
