SIDNEY — The Raise the Roof for the Arts/ The Historic Sidney Theatre has announced it is introducing a new flagship fundraiser, The Spotlight Gala. This season’s Spotlight Gala will be held on Feb. 8, 2025, at the Historic Sidney Theatre.

The themed event will feature a catered, sit down dinner (tables and single seats will be available for purchase at a later date to be announced), a silent and live auction, state of the theatre address by theatre staff and themed performances.

Celebrating the Theatre’s history as a movie theatre, this year’s theme is “A Night at the Movies” and will feature performances from some of the most beloved movie soundtracks.

The Spotlight Gala will put a spotlight on a dedicated member of the arts community in Shelby County, hence the name of the event. Each year, one honoree will be selected based on the following description:

“The Spotlight Gala honoree should be a living individual or individuals who support the arts in Shelby County through arts advocacy. The honoree(s) should demonstrate continued support of arts initiatives and programming through volunteerism, patronage, participation or implementation. The individual(s) must help at least one area arts organization, Raise the Roof for the Arts or otherwise, hold true to their mission statement throughout the year. This honoree(s) should be the epitome of what the arts in Sidney and Shelby County need to stay alive and thrive,” said a press release.

Nominations for the Spotlight Gala Honoree are open to the public on a rolling basis via the nomination form found at sidneytheatre.org. To be considered for this season’s Gala, nominations must be received by Sept. 15 and the honoree will be selected by Oct. 1.
