Huber Heights voters to consider city charter amendments

HUBER HEIGHTS — Residents of Huber Heights will have the opportunity to vote on several proposed city charter amendments in the upcoming general election on Nov 5.

Listed below is the language that will appear on the ballot for the following five proposed charter amendments for the city of Huber Heights:

• Shall sections 5.08 of the Charter of the City of Huber Heights be amended as follows: “To provide that the Clerk of Council may provide notice of any proposed adoption or recodification of the City Code by posting the notice for at least ten (10) days prior to the Council’s adoption on the City’s website and in not less than three (3) public places within the City, as determined by Council?”

• Shall sections 4.04, 4.12, and 5.12 of the Charter of the City of Huber Heights be amended as follows: “To provide the Mayor with a single vote on Council and to remove any reference to a Mayor’s veto?”

• Shall section 6.01 of the Charter of the City of Huber Heights be amended as follows: “To require that the residency of the City Manager be dependent on existing Ohio State Law as negotiated by Council?”

• Shall sections 9.07 and 13.08 of the Charter of the City of Huber Heights be amended as follows: “To provide grounds for removal of board or commission members who have at least three (3) or more unexcused absences from board or commission meetings, and grounds for removal of any Councilmember who has at least three (3) or more unexcused absences from any council meetings?”

• Shall section 4.03 of the Charter of the City of Huber Heights be amended as follows: “To provide that candidates for the offices of Councilmember and Mayor shall not be holding the office of Councilmember or Mayor at the time of certification of their nominating petition by the Board of Elections unless the petitioner is in the last year of their current term?”
