MC Commissioners OK computer purchases

TROY — The Miami County Commissioners authorized computers for the auditor and IT department to purchase 18 computers at their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The commissioners accepted a quote from Insight of Chandler, Arizona, to purchase eight HP Pro G9 computers and accessories for the accounting department for $6,095.35, and 10 computers for the real estate department for $7,619.20.

Adam Emswiler, director of IT for Miami County, spoke on behalf of the auditors during the meeting.

“These are just replacements for the computers on both sides of the halls. The previous ones are about seven years old,” Emswiler said.

The commissioners also accepted a quote from Koenig Equipment Inc., of Tipp City, an approved delivering dealer for Deere & Company of Cary, North Carolina, as requested by the Sanitary Engineer to purchase one 2025 John Deere TX Gator utility vehicle for $10,218.12 minus a trade-in of a 2018 John Deere TX of $4,300, bringing the total cost of the purchase after trade-in to $5,918.12.

In other business, the commissioners accepted or authorized the following resolutions:

• To award the bid for the Tipp-Elizabeth Road bridge replacement project to Brumbaugh Construction Inc., of Arcanum for $566,482.

• To enter into a petition received on Oct. 11 by resolution from the board of trustees of Newberry Township authorizing all actions necessary to vacate east-west alley lots between lot five and six and the entire north-south alley between lots 5-10 and former lots 35-40 under the Ohio Revised Code 553.045(B). The alleys are located in the unincorporated village of Bloomtown.

• To accept a quote from Armor Research Company, of Las Vegas, authorizing the Miami County Sheriff’s Office to purchase six Arc Shield CRS26 kit and accessories for $18,810.48.

• To sign title XX subgrant agreements with the Department of Job and Family Services for the period of Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025, with the following agencies: Family Abuse Shelter of Miami County Inc. $40,000; Health Partners Free Clinic $2,000; Miami County Transit System $106,000; and New Creation Counseling Center $18,000.

• To appoint Stephen W. King, of Piqua, to serve the remaining term of Willian G. Rozell on the Public Defender Commission. Said term is set to expire on March 1, 2026.
