Miami East MVCTC district soils results

CASSTOWN — Members of the Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter competed in the district 5 soils judging contest at the land of the Preble County Historical Society in the Eaton area on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

According to a Miami East-MVCTC FFA press release, the urban soils team consisted of Levi Robinson, Trevor Havenar, and Savannah Pellman. The team placed 12 out of 22 teams. Levi Robinson was the highest placing individual from Miami East placing 12 out of 120 individuals.

The agriculture/rural soils team consisted of Wyatt Black, Kinsley Courtright, Alivia Palivec, Cooper Palivec, Gunner Palivec, and Seth Christian. The team placed six out of 31 teams. Wyatt Black was the highest individual from Miami East placing 13 out of 221 contestants.

The contest consisted of evaluating three soils pit for slope, erosion, drainage, depth, and soil texture and structure. Also, the contestants took a written test and answered questions from the soil survey.

Previously, the teams had competed at the Miami County Soils Career Development Event coordinated by the Miami Soil and Water Conservation District.
