TROY — The Troy boys golf team finished off a perfect regular season in the MVL Monday.

Now, comes taking care of business in the MVL tournament Thursday at Locust Hills Golf Course.

The Trojans defeated Piqua 150-164 on the par-34 front nine at Troy Country Club to finish 9-0 in the MVL in the regular season.

Tippecanoe was 8-1 and Vandalia-Butler was 7-2.

Troy will get nine points for the regular season title, Tipp gets eight and Butler has seven.

In the tournament, the winner will receive 10 points, second will receive eight points and third seven.

“It is certainly possible to win the league without winning the tournament,” Troy coach Mark Evilsizor said. “But, we want to go ahead and win the tournament. We have beaten everyone head-to-head. Now, we need to go beat them one more time.”

Mitchell Sargent led the Trojans with a two-under par 32 and Casey Beckner (one of five seniors celebrating Senior Night) had a 37.

Van Davis had 40, Isaacc Burns carded 41, Jeffrey Smith shot 42 and Walter Mergler added 46. Matthew Hempker had a 40 in a non-scoring role.

“Mitchell (Sargent) continues to play exceptionally well, as does Van Davis,” Evilsizor said. “But, it takes more than two guys. We know the key to our success will be the seniors.”

Piqua coach Andy Johnson was pleased with his team’s play heading into the MVL tournament.

“It was a good way to start the week,” Johnson said.

Piqua scores included Hunter Steinke 37, Lance Lawson 39, Evan Clark 40, Gabe Sloan 48, Aiden Applegate 49 and Blake Walling 56.

ST. PARIS — The Bethel boys golf team finished off a perfect 14-0 TRC regular season Monday at Lakeland Golf Course.

The TRC tournament is Friday at Sugar Isle.

Both teams will play in the D-II sectional tournament Wednesday at Reid Park.

Bethel’s Logan Norris was medalist with 37.

Other Bees scores were Mike Halleg 41, Josh Fiery 42, Gabe Veldman 43, Braden Shoup 44 and Ethan Wishon 51.

Miami East scores were Chase Posey 42, Adam Lawson 42, Keidin Pratt 44, Aiden Crumrine 45, Owen Haak 45 and Brody Antonides 47.

TIPP CITY — The Covignton boys golf team got a TRC win on the back nine at Homestead Golf Course.

Brodie Manson was meadalist and led Covington with 37.

Other Bucc scores were Matt Dieperink 41, Caleb Smith 45, Brairen Denson 53, Jayden Wackler 54 and Gavin Clark 55.

Milton-Union scores were Austin Hodkin 44, Keaton Jones 44, Landon Ratcliff 47, Brian Wooddell 49, Hunter Fraley 50 and William Coate 56.

PIQUA — The Newton boys golf team got a WOAC win at Echo Hills Golf Course.

Will Boswer and Rhett Koffer shared medalist honors with 43.

Ridge Gray had a 45 and Atley Rapp carded a 53.

TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe girls soccer team dropped a game with Oakwood Monday at Tipp City Park.

Kenzie Curry and Brook Shafer scored one goal each for Tipp and Grace Fultz and Mady Turner had one assist each.

Rachel Vaughn had seven saves in goal.

BRANDT — The Bethel girls soccer team cruised to a win Monday.

Juli Sprague scored four goals, Maddie Montgomery had two goals and five assists, Victoria Layton had one goal and three assists and Brooklyn Riviella had one goal and one assist.

Addy Cox, Emma Evans, Jules Fisher and Allee Simmons each had one goal each.

Addie Siler had two assists, Delaney Francis had one assist and Brooklyn Saul had one save in goal.

TROY — The Tippecanoe girls tennis team remained unbeaten in MVL play.

In singles, Troy’s Nina Short defeated Eleanor Spangler 7-6 (4), 6-1; Tipp’s Bri Kovaleski defeated Calista Hicks 6-1, 6-2 and Tipp’s Jillian Schroeder defeated Kmber Connors 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (5).

In doubles, Troy’s Izzy Lutz and Maile Romberger defeated Amelia Wiggleshaus and Mary Waibel 2-6, 7-6 (5), 1-0 (4) and Tipp’s Eve McCormick and Sydney LaBreck defeated Savannah Gibson and Allison Straughn 6-2, 6-0.

GREENVILLE — The Lehman Catholic girls tennis team dropped a match Monday.

“Charlotte is on a roll the last three weeks,” Lehman coach Tim Ungericht said. “She now has 17 wins this seson. From 4-4 in the first set, she only lost one more game the rest of the match. Her net play and defense are much improved this year.”

In singles, Spaide won 6-4, 6-1; Brooklyn Fortkamp lost 6-0, 6-0 and Lehman forfeited third singles.

In doubles, Eliza Westerheider and Kyla McGinnis lost 6-0, 6-2 and Dublin Cooper and Kali Pleasant lost 6-3, 6-1.

On Saturday at the Valley View Invvitational, Spaide finised second and Westerheide and McGinnis finished third.

TROY — The Troy volleyball team got a split of the season series with Sidney.

The Trojans won 24-26, 26-24, 25-19, 13-25, 15-9.

GREENVILLE — The Tippecanoe volleyball team stayed unbeaten on the season Monday, topping Greenville 25-17, 25-17, 25-14.

“Another packed house which made it a great environment for volleyball,” Tippecanoe coach Howard Garcia said. “We started slow the first set, but our quick offense took over with our middles and right sides doing a great job at the net. Second set was almost the same, but tied 5-5. Then our left side swings and awesome defense stopped Greenville, only allowing them to get three kills.

“The third set was a great display of blocking and floor defense from start to end. Team was engaged the entire match, while continuing to play with passion and grit.”

Savannah Clawson had 11 kills and 10 digs and Livia Hiser had seven kills and Lexi Luginbuuhl added six kills.

Jenna Krimm had eight assists and three aces and Emily Aselage led the defense with 12 digs.

XENIA — Piqua got a road win in MVL volleyball action 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-16 Monday night.
