PIQUA — The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) has announced the results from the OVI checkpoint conducted in conjunction with the Sidney Police Department Friday night on state Route 47.

A total of 330 vehicles were checked driving through the checkpoint on state Route 47 between 7 and 9 p.m. Friday. There were no OVI arrests made during the checkpoint.

In addition to the checkpoint, troopers and officers were conducting saturation patrols in the area from 7 p.m. Friday until midnight on Saturday morning. Nine traffic contacts were made during this time frame, said a press release from OSP, with citations issued for several traffic violations, and one arrest for impaired driving.

“At the end of the evening, our ultimate goal is just to educate motorists to do the right thing and make other arrangements if they are going to consume alcohol, said Lt. Jeremy Allen, in the release. “There is no place for impaired driving on our roadways and the public supports the efforts of these men and women out here tonight making their community safer.”
