TIPP CITY — Red Devil Pizza and Deli in Tipp City is off to a fast start since opening on Aug. 28.

The eatery, located at 18 S. Second St. in downtown Tipp City, sells pizzas, wings, and subs for carryout and delivery. It also features a deli with homemade salads, deli meats, and cheeses, and an assortment of pies.

Red Devil is located at the former location of DJ’s Pizza, which served Tipp City for over 25 years. It is owned and operated by Jason Pierce, who’s happy to continue the tradition of serving.

“I like taking care of the community and helping customers,” he said.

Since opening, Red Devil has received 17 Facebook reviews, all of them positive on the quality of the food and experience.

Pierce, who also owns JJ’s Lunchbox in Troy, said the key to creating a successful business is giving the people what they want. He often allows customers to taste free samples of his homemade salads before they purchase them.

“I don’t want you buying something if you’re going to be unhappy with it,” he said. “Even if you don’t want it this time, I want you to try it in case you want to get it next time.”

Pierce also balances his time with his wife Brittany, as they work at their businesses in Tipp City and Troy while caring for their son Karson, who has brain damage.

He said his daily routine includes dropping his son off at school, driving to pick up food items needed for the day, then preparing the kitchen before they open at 11 a.m.

Working 12-hour days, Pierce said he also will fulfill catering orders for local businesses, such a Clopay.

“I’ll work here lots of weeks, and then go home for a couple hours, and then come back at midnight and start an order, so I can have there in 1 o’clock in the morning,” Pierce said. “I sleep about four hours a night.”

The restaurant is listed as being open seven days a week, but Pierce said he’s had to close recently one day a week until he hires more staff. Pierce and his best friend Caleb Mixon fulfill an orders while greeting customers and answering phone calls.

Pierce wants to keep a strong connection to the Tipp City community. He raffled-off two of the old DJ’s Pizza signs to donate to the Tipp City Schools Athletic Department. The two signs generated $316. He’s also going to hang up a jersey of Carson Robbins, a Tippecanoe High School football player who died in April of 2023.

Red Devil Pizza and Deli is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
