PIQUA — The Piqua boys soccer team got its first tournament win in 11 years in a boys D-III sectional soccer game at Wertz Stadium Saturday night.

Piqua will play at Carroll at 7 p.m. Tuesday in district semifinal.

Mazzi Martinez had two goals and Braxton Penrod had one goal and one assist.

Troy Thompson and Max Willoughby had one goal each and Gavin Larger and Bryce Streib had one assist each.

Tanner Stevens had eight saves and combined with Troy Thompson on the shutout in goal.

Tippecanoe 8,

Bellefontaine 0

TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe boys soccer team made quick work of things in a second-round game at Tipp City Park.

The Red Devils, 12-2-3, will host Kenton Ridge in a D-III district semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Cameron Smith had three goals and one assist and Dominic Mendiola had two goals and one assist.

Colin Turner had one goal and one assist and Maddux Robinson and Collin Snider had one goal each.

Landon Haas and Logan McEntyre had one assist each and Jace Sawyer had the shutout in goal.

D-IV

Bethel 8,

Carlisle 0

BRANDT — The Bethel boys soccer team had another short game in D-IV sectional action.

The Bees, 18-2-0, will host Northwestern in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

“We had a good last few days of practice and we came out very sharp tonight,” Bethel coach Bob Hamlin said. “We made some very good runs and got the ball into some dangerous positions. Then we had some great finishes.

“I really liked what I saw in the half we played tonight. Competition will start getting tougher this week, so we must be prepared and ready.”

David Kasimov had four goals and Phil Dix had one goal and four assists.

Jake Smith, Nick Falkenstein and Izak Lyon had one goal each.

Reynaldo Rincon had two assists and Kam Etmans and Logan Newell had one assist each.

Northwestern 5,

Miami East 3

SPRINGFIELD — The Miami East boys soccer team came up short in D-IV sectional action.

The Vikings finish the season 3-14-0.

Ty Rohrer had all three Vikings goals and Simon King and Nick Martel had one assist each.

Kaden Bodey had 19 saves in goal.

D-V

Troy Christian 8,

Franklin Monroe 0

TROY — The Troy Christian boys soccer team had an impressive D-V sectional opener.

The Eagles will host Lehman Catholic at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a district semifinal.

Marek Bollinger had two goals and three assists and Max Barnishin had two goals.

Mikey Berner had one goal and two assists and Zach Zeman had one goal and one assist.

Brennan Hochwalt and Gabe Wilkins scored one goal each and Andre Menezes and Noah Zeman had one assist each.

Karter Denson had the shutout in goal.

Lehman Catholic 2,

Preble Shawnee 1

SIDNEY — The Lehman Catholic boys soccer team advanced with a win Saturday afternoon.

The Cavaliers, 6-12-0, will travel to Troy Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a district semifinal.

Brayden Ulbrich scored both goals for Lehman.

Cole Bostick and Jeremiah LaForme had one assist each.

Colin Potts had five saves in goal.

Milton-Union 4,

Jackson Center 0

WEST MILTON — The Milton-Union boys soccer team advanced in D-V sectional action.

The Bulldogs, 9-8-1, will play Legacy Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a district semifinal.
