TMCS announces upcoming September events

TIPP CITY — Tipp Monroe Community Services (TMCS) announced the following September events.

• Registration for Tipp-Monroe Community Services’ Girls Recreational Volleyball is open until Sept. 6. If your daughter is in third through sixth grade and is interested in learning how to play volleyball, sign her up! No experience is necessary. The season will include eight games and one night per week of practice. Games are on Saturdays at the Broadway Elementary School. The season runs from the middle of September through late November and games begin on Oct. 5. The cost is $90 for residents and $100 for nonresidents (includes team shirt). Volunteer coaches are needed. Call the TMCS office at 937-667-8631 for more information.

• The TMCS NFL FLAG online registration runs through Sept. 8. There will be two co-ed age groups: kindergarten through second grade, and third through fifth grade. Games are held at Kyle Park in Tipp City. The cost is $90 for residents and $110 for non-residents. The registration fee includes an NFL jersey, flag belt, and flags. Late registration will be accepted on a limited basis from Sept. 9-15, including an additional $10 late fee. Games and practices will be held on Sundays beginning on Oct. 6 and run until Nov. 10.

• TMCS is offering a gardening class for third to seventh graders on Sept. 11 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Tipp Center at 855 N. Third St. The cost is $30 for Tipp City and Monroe Township residents and $37 for non-residents.

• TMCS is offering a four-week Pilates class beginning on Sept. 11 and another four-week class starting on Oct. 30. All classes are held at the TMCS building from 6-7 p.m. Each session costs $58 for Tipp City residents and $60 for non-residents. Drop-ins are welcome. The cost is $14.

• Registration for the Annual TMCS Run for the Mums 5K is open. The race will begin at 8 a.m. sharp on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Tipp City Park located at 418 N. Third St. Preregistration runs until Sept. 11 and costs $25 (includes t-shirt) or $20 with no shirt. Please note that online registration remains open from Sept. 12-18, costs $25, and does not include a shirt. For those who prefer to register on the day of the race, race day registration is available from 6:30-7:45 a.m. at the Tipp City Park Roundhouse and costs $25.

• TMCS and the Tipp City Area Arts Council called Great Shot Photography During the Magic Hour. The class is for ages 18 and older or grades 4-9 if accompanied by an adult and runs for two consecutive Thursdays beginning on Sept. 12 from 6-8:30 p.m. Students will meet outside the TMCS building at 3 E. Main St. The instructor is Matt Buehrer, a photography enthusiast. There is no charge, but registration is required

• The Tippecanoe Community Band Fall Concert will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15. The band will perform musical arrangements from the movies. Doors open at 2:15 p.m., and the concert will begin at 3 p.m. at the Tipp Center at 855 N. Third St. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

• The next meeting of the TMCS Board of Trustees is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. The board meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Tipp City Senior Center, 528 N. Hyatt St. The public is welcome to attend.

• The ABCs and Ds of Medicare is on Sept. 26, from 5-6 p.m. This is an introduction for new Medicare members. Learn how the different parts of Medicare work and how to ensure you have the coverage you need and avoid penalties. Kate Johnsen, Medicare Resource Center, will unpack the basics of Medicare and explore ways to maximize your healthcare coverage and minimize your spending in these free classes offered by Tipp Monroe Community Services at the Tipp City Public Library located at 11 East Main St.

Tipp Monroe Community Services is a local nonprofit organization responsible for identifying and filling the needs of Tipp City and Monroe Township residents.
