VANDALIA — The Troy football team found the going tough in a 21-13 loss to Vandalia-Butler in MVL action Friday night at Vandalia-Butler High School.

Troy, 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the MVL, will travel to West Carrollton Friday night. Butler improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the MVL.

Mason Reckner had a one-yard TD run to get Butler on the board in the first quarter and Gryffin Bradley kicked the PAT to make it 7-0.

Troy quarterback Aiden Kirkpatrick had a two-yard TD run in the second quarter and Cameron Stoltz’s kick made it 7-7 at halftime.

Butler’s Julian Rusk caught a 13-yard TD pass from Reckner and Bradley’s kick made it 14-7 in the third quarter.

It looked like Troy would tie the game late in the third quarter when Dakota Manson caught a four-yard TD pass from Kirkpatrick. But, the PAT failed leading 14-13.

Jace Love scored on a one-yard TD run in the fourth quarter and Bradley’s PAT kick made the final 21-13.

Kirkpatrick led the rushing attack with 19 carries for 40 yards and Manson added 30 yards on 11 carries.

Kirkpatrick completed 10 of 17 passes for 155 yards.

Manson caught four passes for 82 yards and Kayden Franklin caught three passes for 37 yards.

Griffin Shepherd led the defense with eight tackles and Creighton Verceles added seven tackles.

Tippecanoe 72,

Greenville 7

GREENVILLE — The Tippecanoe football team handles Greenville 72-7 Friday night in MVL action.

Tipp, 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the MVL, will host Piqua Friday night.

Greenville dropped to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the MVL.

Tippecanoe quarterback Larkin Thomas was nearly perfect, completing 13 of 14 passes for 263 yards and five touchdowns.

Will Strong caught four passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns and Jackson Davis caught five passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Davis added a 97-yard kickoff return for a score.

Xavier Melton led the rushing attack with 10 carries for 79 yards and two scores.

Carson Hughes and Drew Husic also ran for touchdowns.

Owen Baileys kicked eight PATs and Rohan Nicholls added two PATs.

Thursday

Miami East 21,

Northwestern 20

SPRINGFIELD — The Miami East football team improved to 3-0, winning a thriller Thursday night.

The Vikings will open TRC play against Northridge Friday night.

KJ Gustin had another big game at quarterback, completing 17 of 21 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns.

Lincoln Littlejohn caught nine passes for 70 yards and one touchdown and Kaden Francis caught six passes for 78 yards.

Jack Hamaker caught a 28-yard TD pass and Caleb Stacy kicked three PATs.

Luke Bowsher led the defense with 13 tackles and Evan Maxson had 12 tackles.

Friday

Fort Loramie 35,

Covington 15

COVINGTON — The Covington football team fell to 2-1 with its first loss.

The Buccs will open TRC play at Troy Christian Friday night.

Day’Lynn Garrett caught a 20-yard TD pass from Landin Cassel and Wyatt Parker’s PAT kick put Covington up 7-0.

But, Loramie had 35 unanswered points, before Cassell ran 48 yards for a score and ran for the PAT to make the final 35-15.

Cassel completed four of 18 passes for 38 yards and Garrett caught three passes for 27 yards.

Jordan Miller had 110 yards rushing on 22 carries and Cassel added 70 yards on 10 carries.

Milller led the defense with 12 tackles.

Jack Blumenstock had nine tackles and Trenton Havenar added eight tackles.

Milton-Union 28,

Oakwood 23

WEST MILTON — The return of Payton Mayfield made an immediate impact as the Milton-Union football team won its home opener Friday night to improve to 1-2 on the season.

The Bulldogs will host Lehman Catholic Friday night.

Mayfield had 10 carries for 58 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Wyatt Kimmel completed nine of 13 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns, including a 46-yard TD pass to Karson Stone.

Stone caught two passes for 57 yards and Charlie Lane caught three passes for 38 yards.

Kimmel also ran for a touchdown and Seth Lowry led the rushing attack, with 16 carries for 63 yards.

Chase Hamann kicked all four PATs.

Ian Coffey led the defense with nine tackles and Lowry added six tackles.

Meadowdale 44,

Troy Christian 6

TROY — The Troy Christian football team dropped to 0-3 on the season.

The Eagles will open TRC play Friday, hosting Covington.

Urbana 34,

Bethel 7

URBANA — The Bethel football team dropped to 1-2 after a road loss Friday night.

The Bees will open TRC play Friday, hosting Riverside.

Saturday

Lehman Catholic 21,

SIDNEY – The Lehman Catholic football team improved to 2-1 with a win at Sidney Memorial Stadium/30&o Field Saturday night.

Lehman will open TRC play at Milton-Union Friday night.

After falling behind 7-0, the Cavaliers struck back quick with a 67-yard pass from Turner Lachey to Evan O’Leary.

They would take a 13-7 lead on a 28-yard pass from Lachey to Da’Ron Pride.

CJ Olding would catch a 38-yard from Lachey in the second half for a score and Dylan Schiesing caught a two-point PAT to make it 21-7.

O’Leary would finish with 10 carries for 85 yards and five catches for 124 yards.

Pride had 10 carries for 87 yards and Lachey completed seven of 17 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns.

WOAC

TC North 21,

Bradford 18

BRADFORD — The Bradford football team dropped to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the WOAC after a close loss Friday night.

The Railroaders will play at National Trail Friday night.

Bradford quarterback Owen Canan completed eight of 16 passes for 159 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Rallie Wirrig caught four passes for 48 yards, Grififn Trevino caught two passes for 45 yards and Isaiah Purpus caught two passes for 44 yards.

Doolin Puterbaugh caught a TD pass.

Canan rushed 13 times for 79 yards and a touchdown and Trevino returned a kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown.

Canan led the defense with 15 tackles and Fenix Spurgeon added 10 tackles.
