Mazzi Martinez scored the Piqua goal on an assist from Jesse Baker.

BRANDT — The Bethel boys soccer team cruised to an easy win Saturday.

Phil Dix had four goals, Logan Newell had two goals and one assist, David Kasimov had one goal and three assists and Kam Etmans and Logan Norris had one goal and one assist.

Reynaldo Morin Rincon, Cody DeLaet and Emir Ilyasov had one goal each.

Jake Smith, Osman Shirinov, John Gulaliev, Evan Goodman and Reed Dix had one assist each.

Colt Courtad had one goal and one assist for Lehman.

Jeremiah LaForme scored a goal and Colin Potts had eight saves in goal.

third at Van Wert

VAN WERT — The Lehman Catholic girls competed in the Van Wert Invitational Saturday.

“A very good day for our team,” Lehman coach Tim Ungericht said. “It is our highest finish ever in this tournament. Our goals were to finish top three and have girls medal and we got both.”

Charlotte Spaide finished third at first singles.

She lost to Van Wert 8-2, beat Defiance Ayersville 8-3 and beat Wauseon 8-2.

Brooklyn Fortkamp was fifth at second singles.

She beat St. Marys 8-6, lost to Van Wert 8-1 and lost to Wauseon 8-2.

Ashreal Alvarez was second at third singles.

She beat St. Marys 8-3 and lost to Elida 8-1.

Eliza Westerheide and Kyla McGinnis finished second at first doubles.

They beat Wauseon 9-8 and Defiance Ayersville 8-3 before losing to Elida 8-1.

Kali Pleasant and Dublin Cooper finished fifth at second doubles.

They lost to Elida 8-1 and St. Marys 8-3.

Volleyball

Tippecanoe 3,

TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe volleyball team won 25-17, 25-18, 25-10 Saturday.

“Started slow, but took steam blocking and running combination plays to have Eaton off-balance,” Tippecanoe coach Howard Garcia said. “Reduced the unforced errors to five per set and our defensive effort was impressive.

“Eaton had some good moments, but out consistent attack broke them down. Loved our enemy and no quit approach.”

Savannah Clawson had 11 kills, four blocks and seven digs, Emily Aselage had 11 kills and 13 digs and Courtney Post had seven kills and six blocks.

Lexi Luginbuhl had five kills and five blocks, Livia Hiser had four blocks and Morgan Sessions added three blocks.

Jenna Krimm had 15 assists and five aces, Bri Morris had 19 assists and Faith Siefring had 15 digs.

Bethel 3,

BRANDT — The Bethel volleyball team won 25-19, 25-6, 25-19 Saturday.

Annabelle Adams had seven kills and 10 assists, Layla Moore had seven kills, five aces and nine digs and Kyra Clawson dished out 12 assists.

Claire Bailey had three aces and seven digs, Domino Watts served three aces and Jordyn Pham had nine digs,

2-1 in tourney

GREENVILLE — The Newton volleyball team went 2-1 in the Darke County tournament.

The Indians defeated Ansonia 25-23, 25-11; defeated Greenville 25-23, 25-16 and lost to Mississinawa Valley 25-18, 25-11.

Against Ansonia, Ava Rapp had eight kills and seven dig, Sienna Montgomery had seven kills, Makenna Kesling had eight assists, Audrey Sttzel had six assists and Estie Rapp served three aces.

Against Greenville, Ava Rapp had seven kills and 11 digs, Estie Rapp and Montgomery had five kills each, Kesling had 10 assists and Stetzel dished out nine assists.

Against Mississinawa Valley, Montgomery had five kills, Kesling had seven assists, Laila Avila served three aces and Estie Rapp had eight digs.

Bradford goes

0-3 in tourney

GREENVILLE — The Bradford volleyball team dropped three games in the Darke County tournament.

Bradford lost to Ansonia 25-20, 25-19; lost to Greenville 25-7, 25-10 and lost to Arcanum 25-15, 25-12.
