WEST MILTON — Some Miami County residents will be voting on whether to allow liquor licenses in West Milton and Tipp City when they head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 5, during the general election.
West Milton voters will consider a D-6 liquor license to allow Sunday sales for wine and mixed beverages for Phillip C. Wilson Enterprises Inc., doing business as C & J Party Supply located at 26 W. Emerick Road.
Haley Wilson, who owns the business with her husband, Reid, said they hope voters will approve the addition of a Sunday liquor license.
“We just recently, last December, got our Sunday liquor license,” she explained, but added that they need an additional Sunday license for wine and mixed drinks. “The wine is different even though it is lower proof (alcohol). It’s strange that you can sell high proof, but you can’t sell low proof (without the additional license).”
Wilson said she and her husband took over the business from Reid’s father, Phillip Wilson, about six years ago. He had owned it since 1984.
“Before we had the liquor license, it (a Sunday liquor license) wasn’t such a big deal, but now that we’re open inside, people want more wine.”
“I believe it will be easy to pass. We just like to be there for people that don’t want to go outside of town,” Wilson said.
She added, “We appreciate the support of the community.”
Tipp City residents will also see the liquor permit issue on the ballot. It is a local liquor option for:
• Wawa Midwest LLC, doing business as Wawa No. 7216 and includes an application for a C2 liquor permit, which authorizes off-premise sales as part of the “family oriented, full service convenience stores” at 65 W. Kessler-Cowlesville Road.
Voters will also decide about a liquor license for Sunday sales for wine and mixed beverages for Wawa Midwest LLC, doing business as Wawa No. 7216 for a D-6 liquor permit authorizing off-premise sales as part of their “family oriented, full service convenience stores” at 65 West Kessler-Cowlesville Road in Tipp City.
• Sunday liquor sales at Narnarayan Dev. LLC, doing business as Troy Food Mart (Shell) located at 3311 S. County Road 25-A. The permit is for a D-6 liquor permit for their carryout/grocery store.
