Former chapter officers named FFA members of the month

CASSTOWN — Fletcher Harris, Alaina Helsinger, Reagan Howell and Madison Maxson have been named the May 2024 Miami East-MVCTC FFA members of the month.

They are all retired chapter officers, earned the state FFA degree, and will soon be graduates of Miami East High School. They have all been four-year active members of the chapter.

Harris is the son of Jeff and Susan Harris. He has participated in public speaking and food science competitions and helped coordinate the annual car shows and egg hunts. He has supervised agricultural experience working for a local lawn mowing company. He plans to attend the University of Dayton to major in pre-medicine.

Helsinger is the daughter of Curtis and Kristen Helsinger. She has participated in Farm Safety Week activities, coordinated a hunger awareness program, and competed in agriculture sales. Her supervised agricultural experience program is raising laying hens and beef cattle. She plans to attend The Ohio State University for agriculture communications.

Howell is the daughter of Matt and Amanda Howell. She participated in the agriculture sales competition, attended the state and national conventions and coordinated activities to help the animal shelter. Her supervised agricultural experience is raising, showing and marketing market beef. She plans to attend Edison State Community College to be a member of the softball team and study to be a veterinary technician.

Maxson is the daughter of Tom and Lisa Maxson. She has been involved in the job interview competition, was the high salesperson in fruit sales, and helped teach at Ag Day for elementary children. Her supervised agricultural experience is raising and showing pigs. She plans to attend Ohio Northern University to major in pharmacy.

Every month of the school year the Miami East-MVCTC FFA will select a student to be the FFA member of the month. The officer team will nominate one student who has been actively involved in the FFA chapter, school and community activities. If selected, the members will be recognized at the monthly FFA meeting, have their picture displayed in the Miami East Agriculture Room, and will receive a special medallion to celebrate their accomplishments.
