March 19

CIVIL MATTER: A deputy responded to a civil matter at the Miami County Fairgrounds at 11:18 a.m.

UNRULY: A deputy responded to a report of a civil matter on the 3000 block of Rangeline Road in Union Township at 12:10 p.m. It was determined to be an unruly complaint. The caller requested a report for record.

CIVIL MATTER: A deputy spoke with the reporting party in reference to a civil issue at 12:34 p.m. on the 7700 block of Sugar Grove Road in Newton Township. The incident was documented, and this case is closed.

AGENCY ASSIST: While on routine patrol, an officer from an adjacent agency advised a juvenile suspect took off running from him at approximately 4:40 p.m. on the 800 block of West North Street in Piqua. A deputy located the juvenile a few blocks over from where he had ran from the officer. The deputy assisted with detaining the juvenile suspect until the officer responded to the deputy’s location where he then took control of the suspect.

TRANSPORT: A deputy was dispatched to a prisoner transport in Champaign County in reference a male in their custody on a Miami County arrest warrant. The male was picked up and transported to the Miami County Jail where he was incarcerated without incident.

AGENCY ASSIST: A deputy assisted the Troy Police Department on a theft in progress at a local business, Dollar General on West Market Street in Troy, at approximately 7 p.m. Prior to arrival, it was advised a male suspect had fled the area on foot. The deputy made contact with a male who matched the description of the suspect; however, it was later found that he would not be the suspect. The male was found to have an active arrest warrant and was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail.

March 20

BURGLARY: Deputies responded to a residence on the 100 block of Wilson Road on a burglary complaint at 3:14 a.m. The scene was documented and processed, and evidence will be submitted to the Crime Lab for processing.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: Deputy dispatched to the 7800 block of Jay Road in Union Township for an animal complaint at 2:34 p.m. Male was warned for animals running at large.

SEX OFFENSE: Deputies responded to the village of Bradford for a sex complaint. The incident was reported on Miami Avenue at 3:24 p.m.

AGENCY ASSIST: A deputy assisted a Miami County Park District ranger on a suspicious call at Charleston Falls Preserve on Ross Road in Bethel Township at 7:14 p.m. The area was checked. The suspicious male the caller described was not located.

TRANSPORT: Deputies responded to the Montgomery County Jail to pickup a Jeffrey Cooper, 61, who was wanted out of Miami County on a contempt charge for receiving stolen property. Cooper was transported back to the Miami County Jail where he was incarcerated without any issues.

FRAUD: Deputy dispatched to an identity theft complaint at 10:06 p.m. on the 10000 block of North Patterson Road in Washington Township. Complainant wished to make a report in case of further events.

March 21

SUSPICIOUS: Deputy initiated a suspicious in nature call in the area of Harvard and Second streets in Piqua at 3:40 a.m. The deputy observed a vehicle, occupied by two adults, parked in the alley way. At the conclusion of the investigation, three adults were identified and released from the scene. The incident was documented.
