Dinners offered

PLEASANT HILL — The Pleasant Hill VFW No. 6557 will offer dine-in or carry-out meals this weekend.

Friday, March 5 — Chicken Fry with french fries, macaroni salad and a roll for $8 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Saturday March 6 — Tenderloin sandwiches with homemade french fries for $7 from 5-7 p.m.

Sanitary sewer being replaced

PIQUA — On March 8, J & J Schlaegel Inc. will begin replacing the sanitary sewer in the alley between the 1100 blocks of Lincoln Street and Virginia Street and north of the 900 block of Maple Street. In early April they will start replacing the sanitary sewer in the alley north of Park Avenue, from Washington Avenue to east of Virginia Street.

Notification letters will be mailed to property owners and residents before work begins in their area. The project will be completed in sections. The end date for the project is mid-June.

To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert while driving through the construction areas.

Fish fries continue

PIQUA — Lenten fish fries at St. Mary Church in Piqua continue from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 5. All meals are served in a drive-through carry-out only. Meals include three pieces of deep-fried fish, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and a dinner roll. The price is $8 for each meal.

Enter the parking lot next to St. Mary Catholic Church on the Greene Street side and exit on North Street after picking up the dinner.

Fletcher named member of month

CASSTOWN — The March 2021 Miami East-MVCTC FFA Member of the Month is Fletcher Harris. He is the son of Jeffrey and Susie Harris. He is a freshman and first-year member of the Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter.

Fletcher recently participated in the county and district FFA Creed Speaking Career Development Events. He placed second in the county event and fifth overall in the district. Fletcher is the co-chair and an active member of the Agricultural Advocacy Program of Activities Committee. Fletcher’s Supervised Agricultural Experience consists of raising and showing market hogs at the county fair.
