MONROE TOWNSHIP — Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a business burglary alarm Thursday evening, later apprehending the suspect of the reported break-in with assistance from the Tipp City Police Department.

At approximately 11 p.m. on Thursday, deputies were dispatched to a business burglary alarm in the 2800 block of Stone Circle Drive in Monroe Township. Upon deputies arrival, they found the business had been forcibly entered.

The Tipp City Police Department stopped a vehicle nearby occupied by Larry R. Swain, Jr., 35, of Troy. Upon further investigation, law enforcement found Swain had committed the break-in at the Stone Circle business and was in possession of stolen property. The Tipp City Police Department had also been investigating similar break-ins that occurred last year within the city. Further investigation, in collaboration with the Tipp City Police Department, revealed Swain’s involvements in those break-ins as well.

Swain was charged with one count of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, for his involvement in the Stone Circle business break-in and incarcerated in the Miami County jail. Additional charges involving the Tipp City business break-ins will be forthcoming from the Tipp City Police Department.

Swain was arraigned Friday morning in Miami County Municipal Court. His bond was set at $25,000. A preliminary hearing for Swain was set for Jan. 27.
