TROY — The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center’s Drawing Room Concert Series is a unique chamber series that features small ensembles of exceptional musicians. The concerts are always free. In 2021, the remainder of the series will be recorded and posted to Hayner’s website at www.TroyHayner.org/recorded-concerts. The Feb. 23 concert will showcase Dr. David Diamond’s trumpet, Jerry Noble on percussion and Amy Gray on the piano.

Diamond plays trumpet with Air National Guard Concert Band and Blue Yonder Brass Quintet and is the jazz trumpet soloist for the Air National Guard Band of the South. He has also been part of Dayton’s Air Force Band of Flight and a host of jazz and rock bands. He has won the Outstanding Recognition Award at the Elmhurst Jazz Festival and has finished in third place in both the Solo and Jazz Improvisation Competitions at the International Trumpet Guild conference. He has performed with the Springfield Symphony, Dayton Philharmonic, Oakwood Brass, Dayton Jazz Orchestra, and Mad River Brass. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master of Music from the University of Colorado-Boulder, and a bachelor of arts from Centre College in Danville, Ky. He is currently the adjunct professor of trumpet at Wright State University.

Noble is a member of the Dayton Philharmonic, and performs regularly with the Cincinnati Symphony/Pops, Louisiana Philharmonic, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and his own pop/jazz group, “Moments Notice.” Jerry was also a member of the USAF Band of Flight and performed as guest artist with the Cincinnati Symphony, Hunan Symphony (China), Alabama Symphony, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, West Virginia Symphony, and the New Mexico Symphony to name a few. In 2017, he was awarded a Wright State University CELIA Fellowship. He is a performing artist/clinician for Zildjian, Pearl/Adams, and serves as a consultant for D’Addario & Co. He is director of percussion at Wright State University.

Gray is adjunct faculty in the Department of Music and the Department of Theatre Arts at Wright State University. She received a bachelor’s degree in music with an emphasis in piano performance from Wright State University in March 2002, and a master of Music degree with an emphasis in choral conducting and music education in August 2011. She is also the music coordinator and organist at Peace Lutheran Church in Beavercreek and is the choral accompanist at Centerville High School. Gray accompanies at various high schools and universities around the Miami Valley. She teaches private voice and piano lessons and is currently studying organ with Yun Kim in Dayton.
