TROY — The Covington wrestling team went 5-0 in duals on the day to win the Troy Invitational on Saturday, improving their dual meet record to 20-2 this season.
The Buccs opened the day with a 77-6 victory over Xenia, then followed with a 66-18 victory over Troy. Covington then defeated Kettering Fairmont, 56-22, and Sidney, 54-21, before winning the tournament with a 46-31 victory over Miami East in the final round.
Individually, five wrestlers went undefeated on the day for the Buccs.
On their way to 5-0 records, Michael Hagan (113) earned two pins, Kellan Anderson (126) earned three pins, Cael Vanderhorst (138) earned five pins, Trentin Alexander (170) earned two pins and Jensen Wagoner (170) earned four pins. Megan Rose (138) finished 1-0.
Finishing with 4-1 records were Carson Taylor (106, 2 pins), Jericho Quinter (120, 3 pins), David Robinson (145, 2 pins) and Trey Kiser (2 pins).
Scott Blumenstock (285) finished 3-1 with 2 pins, while Connor Sindelir (152) went 3-2 with a pin and Luke Brown (145) went 2-1 with a pin.
Also earning wins and pins for the Buccs were Jackson Shiverdecker (132), Hayden Barker (220) and Ricky Stephan (220/285).
Covington travels to Wayne Trace for a tri-meet with the host Raiders and Celina Tuesday.
