Covington wrestlers pick up two wins

COVINGTON — The Covington wrestling team ran its dual record to 11-4 with wins over Coldwater and Milton-Union this week.

The Buccs defeated Coldwater, 39-26, and Milton-Union, 42-27. Coldwater defeated Milton-Union, 42-24, in the other dual.

Carson Taylor (113) picked up a forfeit against Coldwater before the Buccs reeled off four more victories. Michael Hagan (120) earned a 10-2 major decision over Tyler Overman, while Jericho Quinter (126) pinned Alec Stammen. Chase Vanderhorst (132) then pinned Austin Hamilton, followed by a Caleb Ryman (138) pin over Tanner Stammen.

Coldwater would rebound with a technical fall victory by Jordan Houser over Luke Brown (144) before Aveyen Meek (150) sealed the victory for Covington with an 18-3 technical fall over Sam Rismiller. Coldwater’s Sam Obringer then pinned Jack Blumenstock (157) before Mason Epperson (165) picked up a forfeit for the Buccs. Coldwater won the final three bouts with an Aiden Laux pin over A.J. Garman (175), a 6-0 decision victory by Eddie Cervantes over Aiden Collins (190) and a Shane Ontrop pin over Zeb Woodward-Roeth (215).

Covington’s Michael Hagan (120) started off the dual against Milton-Union with a pin over Jacob Lightner, before the Bulldogs would tie the score, 6-6, after Payton Mayfield won by injury default over Jericho Quinter (126). Chase Vanderhorst (132) then pinned Kegan Crow, while Caleb Ryman (138) and Luke Brown (144) received forfeits.

Aveyen Meek (150) kept things going for the Buccs with a pin over Sylan Gambrel, before Milton would rebound with three consecutive victories as Nathan Barker pinned Mason Epperson (157), Ian Coffey won an 8-2 decision over Jack Blumenstock (165), and Trey Kiser pinned A.J. Garman (175). Covington’s Aiden Collins (190) then won by disqualification over Jordan Foose, while Milton-Union’s Colton Hultgren won by pin over Zeb Woodward-Roeth (215), followed by a victory by forfeit for Covington’s Carson Taylor (113).
