Covington wrestling team wins dual

SPRINGFIELD — The Covington High School wrestling team won dual with Springfield 61-18 Thursday night.

Jericho Quinter (113) won by pin, followed by Michael Hagen’s (120) 11-5 decision.

Chase Vanderhorst (126) won by pin before Kaden Thompson (132) dropped his match to Springfield.

Jackson Shiverdecker (138) won by pin and after Aveyen Meek (144) dropped his match, Caleb Miller (150) and Connor Sidnelir (157) had back-to-back wins by technical fall.

A.J. Garman (165), Izaiah Sherman (175), Hayden Barker (215) and Scott Blumenstock (285) all received forfeits, before Carson Taylor (106) finished things off with a pin. Jack Blumenstock (144) won an exciting overtime decision in JV action.

Covington’s High School JV team competed at the Vandalia-Butler Pools on Jan.y 19.

Brian Morrision (120, 2 pins), Kaden Thompson (132, pin), Jack Blumenstock (138, pin), Aveyen Meek (144), Jackson Shiverdecker (144, pin), Luke Brown (144, pin), A.J. Garman (165, pin) and Zeb Woodward-Roeth (215, pin) all won matches for the Buccs.
