WEST MILTON — The Miami East girls basketball team topped Milton-Union 55-15 Thursday in TRC action.

East improved to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the TRC and will host Northridge Saturday.

Milton-Union dropped to 6-7 overall and 3-4 in the TRC and will play at Lehman Catholic Saturday.

East led 15-2, 42-7 and 53-12 at the quarter breaks.

Maryn Gross had 14 points and seven steals for Miami East.

Paxton Hunley had seven points and four steals and Abigail Kadel scored seven points.

Jacqueline Kadel and McKayah Musselman each scored six points.

Logan Phillips dished out four assists.

Jenna Brumbaugh and Ava Berberich scored four points each for Milton-Union, while Annie Smith had three steals.

Bradford 54

BRADFORD — The Bradford girls basketball suffered its first WOAC loss in heartbreaking fashion.

The game was tied at 54, when Preble Shawnee stole the ball with four seconds to go and scored the winning basket.

Bradford, 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the WOAC, faces another tough test at Arcanum Saturday.

The Railroaders led 18-15 after one quarter, but trailed 35-30 at halftime and 45-42 after three quarters.

Newton 43

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton girls basketball team lost a tough one to Ansonia 45-43 in WOAC action Friday.

Newton dropped to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in the WOAC.

The Indians trailed 14-11 after one quarter and 23-17 at halftime, but took a 31-30 lead after three quarters.

Camryn Gleason led Newton with 22 points.

Reese Hess scored eight points and Layla VanCulin scored seven points.
