TROY — A West Milton man has been charged with second-degree felonious assault for allegedly stabbing a 15 year-old male juvenile in Troy on Sunday.

Jonathan Burke, 35, was charged in the incident. The juvenile suffered stab wounds to the torso area and is still hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The juvenile will also be charged with assault.

Troy Police Department Captain Shawn McKinney said that officers were called to the 200 block of Oak Street mid-afternoon on Sunday on the report of an “altercation.”

McKinney said Burke was at the home for a child visitation when a verbal argument ensued. The parties, including several other male subjects at the residence, then went outside and the disturbance escalated to a physical altercation. McKinney said Burke claimed self-defense, but the investigation is still pending. The victim was known to Burke.

Burke was arraigned on the charge and entered a plea of not guilty. He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to have no contact with the victim.
