Lehman Catholic tennis excited to be back on courts

Tim Ungericht returns as the Lehman Catholic tennis coach.

Senior Max Schmiesing and junior Sam Gilardi are returning letterwinners.

Gilardi and sophomore Chris Evans will lead the singles players, while Schmiesing and sophomore Brad Jones are the top doubles players.

Sophomore Joe Pannapara will play third singles, while junior Brock Bostick and freshman Logan Linson will handle second doubles.

“We have eight players out,” Ungericht said. “We lost three to graduation. We are young with only two players with varsity experience. Our goals are a winning season and we expect to have district qualifiers.”

Lehman will play a tough schedule as always.

“We are not in a league and our schedule is strong as we play four invitationals, plus we play Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy in the first round of the state tournament,” Ungericht said.

He is just happy to have a season after missing 2020.

“It is good to be back this spring and we will be able to have a season,” Ungericht said. “We still have virus protocols to follow, so that will be a challenge for us.”
