Local athletes set to compete in state track and field meets

The Division I, II and III state track and field meets will be held Friday and Saturday at three different sites.

Division I will be held at Hilliard Darby, Division II will be held at Pickerington North and Division III will be held at Westerville North.

All three will follow the same time schedule.

On Friday at 10 a.m., field event finals will include boys shot put, boys long jump, boys pole vault, girls discus and girls high jump.

The ,3200-meter relay finals will be run with girls at 2 p.m. and boys at 2:15 p.m.

Running event prelims begin at 2:30 p.m. with the girls 100 hurdles and conclude with the boys 1,600 relay at 5:45 p.m.

The top two finishers in each of the three heats and the next two fastest times will advance to Saturday’s finals.

There are no prelims in the 800, 1,600 or 3,200 meter runs.

On Saturday, field event finals at 10 a.m. will include boys discus, boys high jump, girls shot put, girls long jump and girls pole vault.

Running event finals will begin with the girls 100 hurdles at 2 p.m. and conclude with the boys 1,600 relay at 4:30 p.m.

DIVISION I

TROY

Zach Ray will compete in the shot put on Friday morning.

Ray has the 14th best qualifying distance of 52-1 1-4.

PIQUA

Jasiah Medley will compete in the 100-meter dash.

Medley has the fourth fastest time in his heat and the eighth fastest time overall of 10.99.

DIVISION II

MIAMI EAST

The Miami East 1,600-meter relay team (Clark Bennett, Jayden Hatcher, Kaden Weldy, Cameron Richter) has the fifth fastest time in their heat and 12th fastest time overall of 3:31.83.

Pole vaulter A.J. Ary will compete on Friday morning.

His qualifying vault of 13-0 is tied for 17th best qualifying vault.

MILTON-UNION

The Bulldogs will be represented by Blake Brumbaugh, Chris Miller and Annie Smith.

Brumbaugh will be competing in two events.

He will compete in the long jump Friday morning.

Brumbaugh has the eighth best qualifying jump of 21-4.

In the 100, his time of 11.16 is the third best time in his heat and sixth best time overall.

Miller has the 18th fastest qualifying time in the 800.

Smith is competing in the girls 100 hurdles.

She has the sixth fastest time in her heat and 17th fastest overall of 16.24.

DIVISION III

NEWTON

Dawson Hildebrand, Lane Kesling and Rylie Resides will represent Newton at the state meet.

Hildebrand will compete in the shot put Friday morning and discus Saturday morning.

In the shot put, he has the third best qualifying distance of 57-3.

In the discus, he has the 11th best distance of 152-7.

Kesling is competing in the boys 400.

He has the fourth fastest time in his heat and 12th fastest overall of 51.27.

Resides will compete in the girls pole vault on Saturday morning.

Her height of 10-4 is tied for the fifth best qualifying height.

LEHMAN CATHOLIC

The Lehman Catholic girls are well represented with Kiersten Franklin competing in three individual events, Lindsey Magoteaux competing in two individual events and the have two relays competing.

Franklin is competing in the 100, 200 and 400.

Franklin’s time of 12.81 in the third fastest in her heat and 10th fastest overall.

Her time in the 200 of 26.80 is sixth fastest in her heat and 17th fastest overall.

Her time in the 400 of 59.96 is third in her heat and 10th fastest overall.

Magoteaux is competing in the 100 and 200.

Her time in the 100 of is fifth fastest in her heat and 11th fastest overall.

Her time in the 200 of 27.13 is the sixth fastest in her heat and the 18th fastest overall.

The 400 relay (Ella Black, Ella Monnin, Katie McFarland, Magoteaux) has the second fastest time in their heat and third fastest overall.

The 800 relay (Monnin, Magoteaux, McFarland, Franklin) has the fifth fastest time in their heat and 13th fastest overall of 1:48.22.
