Miami County Sheriff’s Office makes narcotics-related arrest

TROY — The Miami County Sheriff’s Office on Monday arrested a local man on drug-related charges following a months-long investigation.

The arrest follows a narcotics-related search warrant the Miami County Sheriff’s Office executed at 503 S. Mulberry St. in Troy, according to a press release from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. The search warrant was the result of the department’s several months-long narcotics investigation.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives recovered approximately three ounces of suspected cocaine packaged for sale, marijuana, U.S. currency, scales, and a loaded .45-caliber pistol following the search warrant.

Taken into custody without incident was Nevada D. Butcher, 42, of that same address. Butcher was charged with first-degree felony possession of drugs, fifth-degree felony trafficking drugs, third-degree felony trafficking drugs/preparation for sale, and possessing a firearm while under a weapons disability. Butcher was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail.

Additional charges may be forthcoming after consultation with the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office.
