Information filed by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office:

Feb. 14

ACCIDENT WITH INJURY: Road units responded to a report of an injury accident in the area of 3095 E. Peterson Road in Lostcreek Township. After assessing the scene, it was determined an 18-year-old male swerved to avoid traffic that was slowed for an Earhart Petroleum truck entering the drive at the listed address. The vehicle driven by the male made contact with a passenger van in front of him before coming to final rest in a nearby field. The male was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center by Troy EMS and later transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight for a head injury. The female driver and passenger of the van sustained minor injuries and were treated on scene. Reconstructionists responded to the scene due to the nature and injury sustained by the male.

Feb. 15

K9 DETAIL: A deputy was dispatched to the Interstate 75 ramp for a free air sniff at the request by Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Monnin. After several passes, K9 Vello ran straight to the driver door of the suspect vehicle, jumped up to the open window and alerted again. The deputy made contact with the driver, Mercedes Clark, who admitted there might be a marijuana “roach” in the vehicle, as well as, a BB gun inside the center console. After Trooper Monnin searched the vehicle, he informed the deputythat he did in fact locate a marijuana “roach” and a BB-gun. He also located a metal tin that had a white residue on it.

OVERDOSE: A deputy responded to Swailes Road for a report of an unresponsive male.

JAIL ISSUE: A deputy responded to a report of a female inmate who attempted suicide by hanging herself. Female inmate was transported to UVMC for an evaluation.

Feb. 16

THEFT: A deputy was dispatched to the 9500 block of Country Club Road, Piqua, in reference to a theft in progress. The reporting party witnessed an unknown white male attempting to steal a generator off his front porch. The owner was able to run the suspect off. No items were reported missing at this time. The suspect did leave a white Lugz shoe (size 9.5) at the scene. The suspect was seen leaving in what appeared to be a dark grey Chevy Impala (2013 model or older) with after market rims.
