Feb. 19

PING PONG PADDLE ASSAULT: A deputy was dispatched the Miami County Incarceration Facility due to two inmates involved in a physical altercation. Upon further investigation, Inmate Thorpe struck Inmate Salley in the face with a ping pong paddle. Inmate Thorpe was charged with assault.

Feb. 20

SUSPICIOUS BAGGY: A deputy responded to the Miami County Courthouse on a report of a baggie containing an unknown substance being found in the big courtroom. The deputy collected the baggie that contained an unknown black granular substance. The deputy spoke with two subjects who were in court for unrelated charges who were in proximity to the bag. They report having seen the baggie but did not know from where it came.Upon closer inspection, the baggie was found to contain tiny tubes similar to those used to make bracelets. The baggie was shown to detectives who confirmed it was not drugs. The baggie was disposed of in the trash.

SCHOOL ISSUE: The SRO and Upper Valley Career Center administration received information reference a student who may be under the influence of alcohol. After speaking with the student, it was determined he would face discipline from the school.

Feb. 21

OVI: A deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of Rangeline Road, Newton Twp., on an accident with injury. After further investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Hunter Hollis, 19, of Pleasant Hill, was transported to Troy Kettering Hospital for minor injuries. Hollis was subsequently charged with OVI, failure to control, open container, and under age consumption.
