Jan. 7

ACCIDENT: An accident with no injuries was reported at approximately 2 p.m. in the area of West U.S. Route 36 and North Rangeline Road in Newberry Township.

HARASSMENT: In Concord Township, a deputy made contact with a reporting party who advised she has been receiving threatening messages from another female. The deputy was able to speak with both parties involved, and they advised they would provide the deputy with screenshots of the messages. This case is pending further investigation.

ASSIST FIRE DEPARTMENT: At approximately 6 p.m. a deputy responded to the 6900 block of State Route 589 in Brown Township in reference to an assist fire call. The house was not found to be in unlivable condition. The homeowner was transported to UVMC. The Health Department, Adult Protective Services, Animal Shelter are involved. This is an active investigation at this time.

DISTURBANCE: A deputy was dispatched at 7:27 p.m. to South Main Street in Casstown for a disturbance. Upon further investigation, no charges are being filed.

DISTURBANCE: A deputy responded at 9:27 p.m. to Windmere Drive in Concord Township in reference to a disturbance. A report was taken. This case is closed.

ACCIDENT: An accident with no injuries was reported at 10:49 p.m. in the area of West State Route 571 and South Rangeline Road in Union Township.

Jan. 8

ACCIDENT: An accident with no injuries was reported at 11:03 a.m. on the 2200 block of Piqua Troy Road in Staunton Township.

ACCIDENT: A deputy responded to the area of the 6100 block of State Route 55 in Union Township in reference to a non-injury accident at 6:50 p.m. The deputy arrived and located the vehicle on Kessler Frederick Road near State Route 55. There was nobody around the vehicle. The vehicle had damage to the right, front, passenger side. The deputy found no damage to the guard rail on State Route 55 near the bridge. Miami and Darke County Dispatchers attempted locating a phone number for the owner of the vehicle but were unsuccessful. The vehicle was well off the roadway. There was no accident report completed at this time. This case is closed.

ACCIDENT: An accident with no injuries was reported at 7:30 p.m. in the area of North State Route 48 and Covington Bradford Road in Newberry Township.

TRAFFIC STOP: A deputy stopped a vehicle at 8:33 p.m. on State Route 41 near Martin Road. The driver was cited for speed. He was warned for underage possession of alcoholic beverages and possession of marijuana. This case is closed.

Jan. 9

ACCIDENT: An accident with no injuries was reported at 12:49 a.m. on the 6500 block of North Montgomery County Line Road in Union Township.

ASSIST SQUAD: A deputy was dispatched to an assist squad call at the Miami County Jail in reference to an inmate being transported to the hospital at 8:56 a.m. The inmate was later admitted to the hospital where she had been transported to and a medical furlough was issued.

BURGLARY: A deputy responded to a possible burglary on the 4000 block of Crane Road in Monroe Township. It had been reported two weeks prior that entry was forced into the vacant residence. At that time, it was determined nothing of value had been taken. On Jan. 9, it was reported that entry had been made at the residence once more. After further investigation, it was believed that contractors on behalf of a financial institute had entered the residence for utility management. The homeowner was advised to contact the financial institute for further information, and the incident would be documented. This case is pending any follow up information.

ASSIST SQUAD: A deputy responded at 10:34 a.m. to the 9700 block of Looney Road in Springcreek Township in reference to an assist squad where it was suspected a male subject overdosed. A male subject was transported to UVMC by Piqua EMS. This case will remain under investigation.

HIT SKIP: A deputy was dispatched at 2:46 p.m. to the 6700 block of U.S. Route 40 in reference to a private property hit skip accident. Upon arrival, the suspect admitted to striking the parked vehicle. One individual involved was found to have an active warrant unrelated to this incident. This individual was placed under arrest. No additional charges were filed.

TRAFFIC STOP: A deputy was behind a black Chevy truck when the deputy observed it cross the fog line multiple times at 9:11 p.m. in the area of West Rusk Road and Piqua Troy Road in Staunton Township. The deputy then initiated a traffic stop. The driver was cited for OVI and marked lanes.

ACCIDENT: An accident with no injuries was reported at 11:29 p.m. on the 3300 block of East State Route 55 in Lostcreek Township.

ACCIDENT: An accident with no injuries was reported at 11:55 p.m. on the 9100 block of West Miami Shelby Road in Washington Township.

Jan. 10

ACCIDENT: A deputy was dispatched at 12:26 a.m. to the 8300 block of Covington Gettysburg Road in Newberry Township in reference to an accident with injuries. Upon the deputy’s arrival, it was found the vehicle was traveling east bound on Covington Gettysburg Road when it continued straight off of the roadway, striking a tree. The vehicle was found unoccupied, and a search of the area was conducted. The vehicle was then towed from the scene. Contact was eventually made with the registered owner, who advised he was at his girlfriend’s house in Covington. The deputy then responded to the residence in Covington to speak with the registered owner. The registered owner denied driving the vehicle and then claimed the vehicle had been stolen from the residence. A Covington Police Officer responded to the residence to take the stolen vehicle report.
